Good Bye everybody and Good Luck !
07.20.04 (6:49 am) [edit]
As I have said blogging was just an experiment. And for me it's not worth continuing.
Nevertheless I must say that there are sympathetic people here much more than I usually found on forums I frequent professionaly but I don't see any utility in continuing.
So this is my last post. I will come back from time to time to say hello on some blogs but that's all I will do.

[Congressman Paul Ron] "the USA Patriot Act was not available to read or study before it was voted..

Congress Passes Unconstitutional Laws by James A. Hardin March 11, 2002
In an interview with Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX), The Beacon has uncovered at least one Congressman that admits that Congress sometimes passes unconstitutional laws. Furthermore, Congressmen know that these laws are unconstitutional at the time that the bills are passed. In addition, Rep. Paul revealed that laws are sometimes passed without the bills being available for reading and that often bills are passed on a "voice vote" (not a roll call vote) so that people back home will not know how a specific Congressman voted.
A recent example cited by Rep. Paul is the USA Patriot Act. This bill violates several constitutional protections and defines a "terrorist" as anyone who opposes a federal government program or policy. According to Rep. Paul, this means that a person who differs with the government on issues such as abortion, gun control laws, Free Trade Agreements, the United Nations, or any number of programs and activities could be defined as a terrorist and investigated by the government even though no crime is committed. The USA Patriot Act also gives the government the authority to establish a National ID Card for tracking and surveillance.
"I've heard many conservative Congressmen expressing disappointment in themselves for voting in favor of this bill now that the American people are beginning to realize that this is a bad bill", said Rep. Paul. Rep. Paul also stated that the USA Patriot Act was not available to read or study before it was voted on and passed.
Another example cited by Rep. Paul is the recently passed Campaign Finance Reform Bill. This bill will silence groups from reporting on information such as how our federal elected officials have voted on important legislation anytime within 60 days of an election or 45 days before a primary. "Many Congressmen are now saying that they know it is unconstitutional but that is up to the courts. That, to me, is one of the most despicable arguments I've ever heard", said Rep. Paul. "What's the sense of taking an oath of office if you're going to pass things that are unconstitutional and hope the courts will save you from yourself", Rep. Paul continued.
Rep. Paul also pointed out that the United States is currently in a war and invading foreign countries. The only constitutional provision for declaring war rests with Congress. Yet, Congress has not declared a war and refuses to challenge our government's current activities on constitutional grounds or support President Bush by declaring a war.
"What bothers me the most is that there is an assumption in the media that the President can declare war. We should know who the enemy is and what are the objectives, but the media does not ask these questions", stated Rep. Paul

[History] The Bankruptcy of America in 1933
07.20.04 (5:32 am) [edit]
Congressman Lemke: "....This nation is bankrupt; every State in this Union is bankrupt; the people of the United States, as a whole, are bankrupt. The public and private debts of this Nation, which are evidenced by bonds, mortgages, notes, or other written instruments about to about $250,000,000,000, and it is estimated that there is about $50,000,000,000 of which there is no record, making in all about $300,000,000,000 of public and private debts. The total physical cash value of all the property in the United States is now estimated at about $70,000,000,000. That is more than it would bring if sold at public auction. In this we do not include debts or the evidence of debts, such as bonds, mortgages, and so fourth. These are not physical property. They will have to be paid out of the physical property. How are we going to pay $300,000,000,000 with only $70,000,000,000?" Congressional Record, March 3, 1934, footnote #10
Congressman McFadden: "I hope that is the case, but I may say to the gentleman that during the sessions of this Economic Conference in London there is another meeting taking place in London. We were advised by reports from London last Sunday of the arrival of George L.Harrison, Governor of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, and we were advised that accompanying him was Mr. Crane, the Deputy Governor, and James P. Warburg, of the Kuhn-Loeb banking family, of New York and Hamburg, Germany, and also Mr. O. M. W. Sprague, recently in the pay of Great Britain as chief economic and financial adviser of Mr. Norman, Governor of the Bank Of England, and now supposed to represent our Treasury. These men landed in England and rushed to the Bank of England for a private conference, taking their luggage with them, before even going to their hotel. We know this conference has been taking place for the past 3 days behind closed doors in the Bank of England with these gentlemen meeting with heads of the Bank of England and the Bank for International Settlements, of Basel, Switzerland, and the head of the Bank France, Mr. Maret. They are discussing war debts; they are discussing stabilization of exchanges and the Federal Reserve System,I may say to the Members of the House. The Federal reserve System, headed by George L. Harrison, is our premier, who is dealing with debts behind the closed doors of the Bank of England; and the United States Treasury is there, represented by O. M. W. Sprague, who until the last 10 days was the representative of the Bank of England, and by Mr. James P. Warburg, who is the son of the principal author of the Federal Reserve Act. Many things are being settled behind the closed doors of the Bank of England by this group. No doubt this group were pleased to hear that yesterday the Congress passed amendments to the Federal Reserve Act and that the President signed the bill which turns over to the Federal Reserve System the complete total financial resources of money and credit in the United States. Apparently the domination and control of the international banking group is being trengthened.... Congressional Record, June 14, 1934

[Nobel Gerald Edelman] "A Universe of Consciousness: How Matter Becomes Imagination"
07.20.04 (3:22 am) [edit]
Nobel's Laureate of Medecine Gerald Edelman has written a book "A Universe of Consciousness: How Matter Becomes Imagination"
Can read exerpt on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/reader/0465013775/ ref=sib_dp_pt/103-3718803 -1233410" title="http://www.amazon.com/gp/reader/0465013775/ ref=sib_dp_pt/103-3718803 -1233410" target="_blank"http://www.amazon.com/gp/read...
This is a book that makes me regret sometimes not to have chosen my first vocation: being a researcher either in Astrophysics or in Neurobiology. But it was too risky not in the financial sense but in psychological sense : I thought that the probability was too low that Science could attack the mystery of conciousness but today Edelman shows that there is now a true possibility.
I was frightened to be upset by a researcher career so I chose to be an engineer rather - globally I don't regret my choice an engineer is obliged to be pragmatic. With time I was less interested by pure research in Science than by History for example. But for me this book, although at the frontier of Philosophy and Science, is rather concrete, I mean I can find ideas to improve my own learning process. I have always been interested by what I called meta-learning (how to learn to learn - double repetition not a typo error but intended ) because I am rather heteroclit - I have made 3 schools in biological engineering, petroleum engineering, production and quality management, I have been quality and production engineer then software architect engineer and my interests have been in Astrophysic, Neurobiology in the past and today Finance and economy - I have been obliged to learn new things so that I have now acquired a sort of framework for learning.

Carroll Quigley, Bill Clinton's mentor
07.20.04 (2:00 am) [edit]
Who was Carroll Quigley ?
President Clinton gave tribute to Carroll Quigley in his nomination speech at the Democratic Party Convention. Quigley graduated magna cum laude with MA and Ph.D. degrees from Harvard. He was even in Ripley's Believe It or Not for being Harvard's youngest person to receive a Ph.D. After teaching at Harvard and Princeton he went to Georgetown where for 28 consecutive years alumni selected him as their most influential professor. Dean of The School of Foreign Service, Dr. Peter F. Krough aptly states, 'He was one of the last of the great macro-historians who traced the development of civilization...with awesome capability.' With his teachings, Clinton and other aspirants have aligned themselves in positions of influence. As Quigley espoused, 'Look at the real situations which lie beneath the conceptual and verbal symbols.'
As of his death in 1977 Dr. Carroll Quigley is no longer with us, yet his book "Tragedy and Hope" is a hallmark of history, a classic to be owned by those who care to know of the forces that have shaped and are shaping history.
His book "Tragedy & Hope: A History of the World in Our Time" can be found on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0945 00110X/qid" title="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0945 00110X/qid" target="_blank"http://www.amazon.com/exec/ob...%3D1050597928/sr%3D2-3/re f%3Dsr%5F2%5F3/103-371880 3-1233410
[Excerpt 1]:
Excerpted from pp. 950 - 955 - detailing the establishment of the "New York branch of the ROYAL INSTITUTE OF INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS". . . the: COUNCIL ON FOREIGN RELATIONS There does exist, and has existed for a generation, an international Anglophile network which operates, to some extent, in the way the radical Right believes the Communists act. In fact, this network, which we may identify as the Round Table Group has no aversion to cooperating with the Communists, of any other groups, and frequently does so. I know of the operations of this network because I have studied it for twenty years and was permitted for two years, in the early 1960's, to examine its papers and secret records. I have no aversion to it or to most of its aims and have, for much of my life, been close to it and to many of its instruments. I have objected, but in the past and recently, to a few of its policies (notably to its belief that England was an Atlantic rather than a European Power and must be allied, or even federated, with the United States and must remain isolated from Europe), but in general my chief difference of opinion is that it wished to remain unknown, and I believe its role in history is significant enough to be known.
The Round Table Groups have already been mentioned in this book several times, notably in connection with the formation of the British Commonwealth in chapter 4 and in the discussion of appeasement in chapter 12 ("the Cliveden Set"). At the risk of some repetition, the story will be summarized here, because the American branch of this oganization (sometimes called the "Eastern Establishment") has played a very significant role in the history of the United States in the last generation. The Round Table Groups were semi-secret discussion and lobbying groups organized by Lionel Curtis, Philip H. Kerr (Lord Lothian), and (Sir) William S. Marris in 1908-1911. This was done on behalf of Lord Milner, the dominant Trustee of the Rhodes Trust in the two decades 1905-1925. The original purpose of these groups was to seek to federate the English-speaking world along lines laid down by Cecil Rhodes (1853-1902) and William T. Stead, (1840-1912), and the money for the organizational work came originally from the Rhodes Trust. By 1915 Round Table groups existed in seven countries, including England, South Africa, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, India, and a rather loosely organized group in the United States (George Louis Beer, Walter Lippman, Frank Avdelotte, Whitney Shepardson, Thomas W. Lamont, Jerome D. Greene, Erwin D. Canham of the Christian Science Monitor, and others). The attitudes of the various groups were coordinated by frequent visits and discussions and by a well-informed and totally anonymous quarterly magazine, The Round Table, whose first issue, largely written by Philip Kerr, appeared in November 1910. The leaders of this group were: Milner, until his death in 1915, followed by Curtis (1872-1955), Robert H. (Lord) Brand -- brother-in-law of Lady Astor -- until his death in 1963, and now Adam D. Marris, son of Sir William and Brand's successor as managing director of Lazard Brothers bank. The original intention had been to have collegial leadership, but Milner was too secretive and headstrong to share the role.

Excerpts from pp 324 - 327 discussing the "powers of financial capitalism" "The powers of financial capitalism had another far-reaching aim, nothing less than to create a world system of financial control inprivate hands able to dominate the political system of each country and the economy of the world as a whole. This system was to be controlled in a feudalistic fashion by the central banks of the world acing in concert, by secret agreements arrived at in frequent private meetings and conferences. The apex of the system was to be the Bank for International Settlements, a private bank owned and controlled by the world's central banks which were themselves private corporations. | About the inefficiency of People's fight |
07.20.04 (12:44 am) [edit]
We are billions of people on earth and maybe 95% of these billions want peace. Why the 5% or even 0.01% can impose wars to the overwhelming majority ?
You would say that the 5% have all the power and money. But they didn't get it by miracle. They get it by their organisation. That's why Ben Laden with supposedly only 400 men can oppose all the armies on earth.
So why a bunch of terrorists can get organised and get financing and a bunch of citizens couldn't ?
In truth there are a bunch of so-called grass roots organisations but as explained by Noam Chomsky himself - see his interview - they are now controlled (at least for the principal ones and notably the democratic party itself) so that dissents can even be artificially fabricated and turned into passivity later.
So the first imperative of an efficient organisation would be to design a plan for countering infiltration notably at the very head of the organisation because it's more easy to control the leader(s) of an organisation than the base itself which are just too numerous. And the base, although intelligent individually, as a group they are only capable of herding by following their leader.
That's my diagnostic of why people's fights are so inefficient and why I'm feeling I'm going to give up if people or rather the bases of some grass root organisations don't realise that and do something to correct this situation.

Not all happily, and not all reacted or wanted to react so one must not generalise and some are my friends. But this is a sample of reactions I got when asking the same question than the one I posted: "Can you imagine how an even moderate islamist would now feel against Americans by seeing these photos" http://www.antiwar.com/news/?articleid=2444" title="http://www.antiwar.com/news/?articleid=2444" target="_blank"http://www.antiwar.com/news/?...

One said:
"At this point Americans shouldn't give two shits what these people think. They already hated us before to the core of their soul.
This is war...war is ugly...information is necessary...prisoners do not volunteer information easily...we have to get it anyway we can to protect American lives. Torture and information extraction has been going on in EVERY war for as long as history. Geneva convention my ass.
One thing I do know absolutely for sure is the lax American commander that allowed cameras into this prison should be shot as a traitor. It thus allowed these pictures to see the light of day. Torture should always be private. :-)"
Another said: "How would they feel?
I think they would immediately realize that all those pics were just staged for gags and not truly representative of any REAL acts taking place at the prison.
Those photographed were in those positions for no more than the time it took to click the pics - and, great make-up and costume jobs, btw!
The prisoners were then obviously returned to the plush country club lifestyle of rest and relaxation being fed and cared for in such a way it would make Donald Trump envious.
Anyone in their right mind would never think any of that was real."
a third said:
"We know perfectly well how they feel, we all saw pictures of arabs dancing in the streets when planes were crashing into WTC on 9/11. While they supposedly did not dance on Spain's 3/11 attack there was no arab outrage, protests or anti-terrorism demonstrations either."
Once again it is a biased selection of reactions, it doesn't reflect the whole community of traders, nevertheless there is clearly a difference of perception between communities depending on their social classes whereas genetically they are all the same.

"5-Minute Video of George W. Bush on the Morning of 9/11"
07.19.04 (10:51 am) [edit]
Don't know if it's well known or not, in case it is not well known already can see it here: http://www.thememoryhole.org/911/bush-911.htm" title="http://www.thememoryhole.org/911/bush-911.htm" target="_blank"http://www.thememoryhole.org/...
The text below is from the site, not from me:
At 9:03 AM on 11 September 2001, the second airplane hit the South Tower of the World Trade Center. President Bush was in Florida, at the Emma T. Booker Elementary School, listening to children read. Chief of Staff Andrew Card came over and whispered in Bush's ear, "A second plane hit the second tower. America is under attack."
What did the Commander in Chief do? Nothing. He sat there. He sat for well over 5 minutes, doing nothing while 3,000 people were dying and the attacks were still in progress.
Not only did the leader of the free world sit as his country was attacked, the Secret Service also did nothing. Bush was appearing in public at a previously announced photo-op. He was a sitting duck. The attacks were ongoing at that point (planes had yet to hit the Pentagon or the field in Pennsylvania), and nobody knew how much more destruction was going to happen. Were there two, three, four, eight more planes hijacked and on their way to crash into prominent buildings? Was one headed for the school, where anyone who checked the President's public itinerary would know he was located? Were other terrorists planning to detonate dirty nukes? Were they going to release anthrax or smallpox or sarin? Was an assassination squad going to burst into the school and get Bush? Was a suicide bomber going to ram a truck full of explosives into that classroom?
During the midst of the attacks, any of these things could've happened. Yet there sits Bush, seemingly unconcerned. His Chief of Staff likewise doesn't think that America in flames warrants the President's immediate attention. And the Secret Service utterly fails to do its job by grabbing the President of the United States and getting him to safety. It's truly inexplicable.
And it's something the administration isn't too eager to trumpet. They haven't released footage of the President's (non)actions during this historic moment of American history. Until now, the only available footage had been a little film put together by Booker Elementary. [See it here.] The problem is, there's a jump edit in the footage: From the time Card whispers to Bush until the end of the scene in the classroom, only 2 minutes and 10 seconds elapse.
But this new, fuller footage shows Bush sitting for a full five minutes after he'd been told that "America is under attack."
He declined to take action even longer than this, but unfortunately this footage ends before he leaves the classroom. Thanks to an amazing article by Allan Wood and Paul Thompson, we know what happened after the footage suddenly cuts off:
The only source to describe what happened next is Fighting Back by Bill Sammon. Publishers Weekly described Sammon's book as an "inside account of the Bush administration's reaction to 9-11 [and] a breathless, highly complimentary portrait of the president [showing] the great merit and unwavering moral vision of his inner circle." [Publisher's Weekly, 10/15/02] Sammon's conservative perspective makes his account of Bush's behavior at the end of the photo-op all the more surprising. Bush is described as smiling and chatting with the children "as if he didn't have a care in the world" and "in the most relaxed manner imaginable." White House aide Gordon Johndroe, then came in as he usually does at the end of press conferences, and said, "Thank you, press. If you could step out the door we came in, please." A reporter then asked, "Mr. President, are you aware of the reports of the plane crash in New York? Is there anything...", But Bush interrupted, and no doubt recalling his order, "DON'T SAY ANYTHING YET," Bush responded, "I'll talk about it later." But still the president did not leave. "He stepped forward and shook hands with [classroom teacher] Daniels, slipping his left hand behind her in another photo-op pose. He was taking his good old time. ... Bush lingered until the press was gone." [Fighting Back: The War on Terrorism - From Inside the Bush White House, by Bill Sammon, 10/02, p. 90]
For a detailed portrait of what Bush did and didn't do on 9/11, you can do no better than to read this article here. It is based completely on reports from mainstream media and statements from government officials.
Apologists claim that Bush didn't leave simply because he didn't want to interrupt and upset the children, but this falls apart for several reasons:
1) America is being attacked, thousands are dying, and Bush doesn't know if we're facing nuclear, biological, or chemical attacks, as well. Couldn't he just say, "Excuse me, kids, I need to take care of something. It's part of being President, y'understand. I'll be back as soon as I can."
2) At the moment Card told Bush about the second plane, the children weren't reading to Bush. They had finished reading words from an easel and were reaching under their chairs for a book when Card whispered to Bush. Another 30 seconds would elapse before they started reading again. This pause was a perfect time for Bush to politely excuse himself.
3) By staying, he not only endangered his own life, but the lives of all of those children. Wouldn't it be better to risk upsetting them than to risk letting them die in a terror attack?
4) Even if Bush was afraid of hurting the kiddies' feelings, what about the Secret Service? Have they been trained not to attempt to save the President's life if it might bother some schoolchildren?
5) What about Chief of Staff Andrew Card, White House Spokesperson Ari Fleischer, and other officials who were in that classroom? Didn't they feel that a 21st-century Pearl Harbor and a potential attack on the President himself were worth some sort of action?
6) Finally, and most damningly, this excuse doesn't explain why Bush continued to mill around the classroom for several minutes after the children had finished reading.
Somewhere, someone has the complete, uncut footage of Bush in Booker Elementary, from the time he enters the classroom until he finally walks out. If you have this footage, please send it to me.
This video was obtained from The Education Channel in Sarasota, Florida. You can get a copy by sending $35 to:
Ms. Leanne McIntire The Education Channel 3301 Proctor Road Sarasota FL 34231
Ask for the raw footage of President Bush at Booker Elementary on the morning of 11 Sept 2001. Specify whether you want VHS or Super VHS. (The latter is broadcast quality but doesn't play on regular VCRs.)

[creativeresistance.ca] "An interview with Noam Chomsky"
07.19.04 (7:19 am) [edit]
Noam Chomsky said in this interview:
"It was the first major study by the Trilateral Commission founded by David Rockefeller. The Commission was a mostly liberal internationalist elite, from Europe, the United States, and Japan. It was mostly people like the Carter administration, liberal in the American sense of social democrats and internationalists. What they were deeply concerned about was an increase in democracy, that is, through the 1960s parts of the public that had usually been apathetic and passive began to get organized and to enter the political arena and press their demands and so on. That included women, working people, minorities, the elderly-in general the large part of the population that was usually passive. The way it's supposed to work is that the political system is supposed to be in the hands of private tyrannies, private power, and that was beginning to erode. What they said is that there's too much democracy and that's no good, it's a crisis, that we have to have more moderation in democracy, and we have to restore people to passive apathy. They said that they had to prove that they were worried about what they called the institutions responsible for the indoctrination of the young-their words, not mine. That means the schools, the officials, media, the churches-they were not indoctrinating people, they were becoming too independent and thoughtful, too active, and something had to be done to reverse this. Since then there have been major efforts to restore people to their marginal existence and this takes many forms. One form is what's called minimizing the state within the neoliberal framework. So remove decisions from the public arena and back into private hands, one or another form of privatization. Another form is the centralization of financial authorities. So the European central bank has enormous authority and it's not accountable to parliament. Still more important is the liberalization of finance since the 1970s, dismantling the Bretton Woods system. That creates what economists call a virtual parliament and you have to pay attention to what investors say or else they can destroy the economy, and that restricts enormously what governments can do. Right now there are extremely important meetings on the general agreement for trade in services. The idea is to privatize services, services meaning anything the government can do-education, health, etc."

[History and records documents] How CIA was fully aware about Pinochet's coup.
07.19.04 (3:59 am) [edit]
Following today's AFP news on Yahoo about Pinochet http://www.tblog.com/templates/index.php?bid=funnydiscovery&st atic=235214" title="http://www.tblog.com/templates/index.php?bid=funnydiscovery&st atic=235214" target="_blank"http://www.tblog.com/template...
From this site we can learn =http://www.progressive.org/ko...
'That the United States knew in advance about the coup can no longer be in doubt.
One CIA document, dated September 8, 1973, reports that the Chilean navy was planning an action in Valparaiso at 8:30 a.m. on September 10 to overthrow the Allende government, that the Chilean armed forces would support this, and that air force commander Gustavo Leigh had gotten in contact with Pinochet, who assured him the army wouldn't oppose the navy's action. The CIA informant said the army would join the coup after the air force supported the navy. "The coup could occur on 10 September or at least during the week of 10 September," the document notes.
Another CIA document, dated September 10, is even more blunt: "The coup attempt will begin September 11. All three branches of the armed forces and the Carabineros are involved in this action. A declaration will be read on Radio Agricultura at 7 a.m. on 11 September."
These documents make a mockery of the assertion by Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Jack Kubisch, who testified before the House Subcommittee on Inter-American Affairs on September 20, 1973: "Gentlemen, I wish to state as flatly and as categorically as I possibly can that we did not have advance knowledge of the coup that took place on September 11."'

WASHINGTON (AFP) - A respected American bank discretely helped former Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet (news - web sites) to hide millions of dollars over an eight-year period, even after he was arrested in London in 1998 and a court froze his assets, a US Senate report said.

Executives of Washington-based Riggs Bank approached Pinochet in Chile in 1994 and invited him to open an account, said Senator Carl Levin, delivering the conclusions of the document in the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations.
Levin, calling the 88-year-old Pinochet a "notorious military leader accused of involvement with death squads, corruption, arms sales and drug trafficking," said the former general agreed to open the account.
"The bank opened an account for him personally, helped him establish two offshore shell corporations in the Bahamas called Ashburton and Althorp, and then opened more accounts in the name of those shell corporations both here and in the UK (Britain)," Levin said.
From 1994 to 2002, Pinochet deposited between four million to eight million dollars in his Riggs accounts, the report said.
Pinochet, who ruled Chile with an iron fist from 1973-1990, was arrested in London in October 1998 after Spanish judge Baltasar Garzon demanded his extradition in order to try him on charges of human rights abuses.
He was allowed to return to Chile in 2000 after being released on grounds of failing health.
"In 1998, when Mr Pinochet was arrested in London on charges of crimes against humanity and a court issued an order seeking to freeze his bank accounts, Riggs quietly helped him move money from London to the United States," said Levin, a Michigan Democrat.
In March 1999, while Pinochet was still under arrest, the bank authorized the transfer of 1.6 million dollars from a London account of Althorp to a new one in the United States, despite a court order to freeze the accounts, the report said.
"Needless to say, (the bank) didn't alert law enforcement or the courts to his accounts," said Levin. "We can't allow our financial systems to be misused by corrupt dictators, terrorists or other criminals."
In testimony before the committee, Riggs President Lawrence Hebert said the bank "has not been accused of money laundering" and is "fully and actively cooperating with all law enforcement efforts."
However the Senate subcommittee's chairman, Republican Senator Norm Coleman, lamented the bank's decision to keep Pinochet's accounts secret from US bank regulators.
"For eight years, Riggs officials did not verify the source of his wealth, nor did they disclose the existence of these accounts to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC)," Coleman said.
In Santiago, Chilean President Ricardo Lagos said that if the report were confirmed, an investigation would be appropriate.
"If the result of the US Senate investigation determines that level of accounts, and who the account holder is, some kind of commission probably should be set up to investigate" to determine "the nature of those accounts," said Lagos.

"Know Thu Self" (part II)
07.19.04 (2:18 am) [edit]
Part I of the article "Know Thu Self" http://www.tblog.com/templates/index.php?bid=funnydiscovery&st atic=233760" title="http://www.tblog.com/templates/index.php?bid=funnydiscovery&st atic=233760" target="_blank"http://www.tblog.com/template...
Part II: The "Barnum Effect" It is said here http://www.psychoheresy-aware... "Research reveals that individuals are very prone to accept the most general character descriptions as being specifically applicable to themselves. The term given to this phenomenon is the Barnum Effect, named after P. T. Barnum, who believed that a good circus had "a little something for everybody." Even though the descriptions or descriptive terms in the inventories, typologies, and tests apply equally well to other people, individuals are gullible enough to believe they are unique to themselves. Of course, this is exactly what happens with the horoscope, palm reading, and crystal ball gazing. This is known in research literature as the illusion of uniqueness and occurs at least for positive traits."
Let's summarise just the first part of the numerology of my name and birthdate: A: "you possess great compassion and seek to be of service to others. " B: "Your task in life is to develop the tools necessary to be truly helpful to others, rather than to simply be a sympathetic ear." C: "you must learn the delicate art of the counselor who knows when to leave the struggle to others and when to avoid taking away the necessary experiences"
I can make the hypothesis that there may be a proportion of 50% of people that can feel compassion to others (I suppose it's the same kind of proportion order than between right and left). So by telling A the software has as much as chance to be right than flipping a coin and obtain a head or a tail.
Let's consider B. The term tools is rather fuzzy so that it lets people imagine anything for example a blog tool :). Let's say there are 30% of people who would recognise to be in case B among the 50% already recognising to be in case A (B is totally dependant on or a subset of A). Then there are finally 15% (30% of 50%=15%) of people that would recognise to be in case A AND B. This is about the same as flipping a coin 3 times and obtain 3 consecutive heads (50%*50%*50%=12.5%). This is not a so rare event to get 3 heads by flipping a coin 3 times.
C is really very fuzzy so I would consider that 100% of people would fullfill the case so that 15%*100%=15% that is to say the probability is unchanged.
Well I could continue but it's a bit boring. Even if I obtain by this calculation that the software was right with a very low probability that it is due to chance, probability is far from being a reliable beginning of proof for a sample of only one element that is to say myself. As there is no fundamental proof about numerology or astrology this would be reasonably attributed to chance :).
So the value of this kind of software is zero for me as for predicting my personality. Nevertheless it can play the same role as a psycholog or a mirror if you consider some original points like:
"The temptation, and the danger for you, is to think of yourself as the savior of the world" My brother who has never read that stuff yet on me, already warned me about that so I might say that yes this is really a point that concerns me and make me wonder if I shoudn't indeed opt for "The fantasy of the hermit or monk engaged in a life of study and meditation" :D
I must say that I am very tempted by that - not to be a monk as I'm not a believer but to be an hermit - because I feel completely helpless with what is happening to the world :).

Patriot Act: a little detail not mentioned in the medias
07.18.04 (9:07 am) [edit]
Exact Law I found Here http://www.pacul.org/compliance/quicksheet feb02.htm" title="http://www.pacul.org/compliance/quicksheet feb02.htm" target="_blank"http://www.pacul.org/complian...
"The USA Patriot Act Anti-Money Laundering Program Requirement Penalties
7. The Act increases civil and criminal penalties for money laundering to an amount equal to not less than two times the amount of the transaction BUT NOT MORE THAN ONE MILLION DOLLARS."
Do you really think that terrorists have less than one million to launder ? The bank can just ask the terrorists a prime of risk to cover the penalties and everything is just OK for them !
So don't they rather pretext this patriot act to spy on citizens as they wanted to do so already independently of any terrorist threat see http://www.tblog.com/template...
"* How a congressional committee used the pretext of policing foreign assistance to rebirth the infamous "Know Your Customer" legislation -- a plan first exposed in WorldNetDaily.com that would require banks to spy on their customers;"
And of course when you read newspaper for the mass public it doesn't mention this kind of crucial detail ! "Patriot Act requires banks to increase customer scrutiny" http://www.jsonline.com/bym/news/sep03/172799 .asp" title="http://www.jsonline.com/bym/news/sep03/172799 .asp" target="_blank"http://www.jsonline.com/bym/n...

[following WhoIsJohnGalt's article] What is a black hole ?
07.18.04 (6:55 am) [edit]
WhoIsJohnGalt's blog announced the interesting discovery of a giant black hole so this remind me of an article but first read this disclaimer :) In "What Do You Care What Other People Think Mr Feynman ?" it is said : http://www.tblog.com/templates/index.php?bid=funnydiscovery&st atic=225064" title="http://www.tblog.com/templates/index.php?bid=funnydiscovery&st atic=225064" target="_blank"http://www.tblog.com/template...
"Feynman's dad taught him about the birds, compared to how the other boys' dads taught them about the birds. His father taught him about what the bird does and how it lives, while the other boys' dads taught them just the names of the birds and nothing about the birds themselves."
So the question: what scientists really know about black holes. According to Astrophysicist Jean-Pierre Petit they don't know as much as one could think about these ... "Blackbirds" (his own term in the article maybe he has read Feynman :) ):
Questionable black hole by Jean-Pierre Petit http://www.jp-petit.com/Extensions/pres_quest ionable_en/PQ1trad.htm" title="http://www.jp-petit.com/Extensions/pres_quest ionable_en/PQ1trad.htm" target="_blank"http://www.jp-petit.com/Exten...
exerpt:
'Maybe scientists, like others, do not ask themselves questions to which they think they cannot give a reply. How does one reply to the question :
- What happens in a milieu where, at a certain point, pressure suddenly becomes infinite?
But nobody asked the question, at least not in that way. Apparently it caught nobody's eye. Many cosmology specialists with whom I have spoken were unaware of this aspect.
Let us return to "the story of the black hole". We could say : The implosion phenomenon of a destabilised neutron star is an unstationary phenomenon. Let us build therefore an unstationary solution for the ensemble of the two equations above. However we do not know how to, in a credible manner. So theoreticians turned towards the "exterior solution" (that which describes, for example, the geometry at the exterior of the sun and which becomes "pathological" at the Schwarzschild radius of 3.7 km).
- In other words "take away the sun" and let us explore the properties of this geometry. Like that...
- But it's a solution that refers to an empty universe ?!
- Take no notice, let's see what we get ...
Study began on the radial trajectories of objects in free fall towards what would be, under these conditions, "a black hole of solar mass" of 3.7 km diameter. The variable t was retained, it was meant to refer to the time experienced by an "exterior observer", a good earthling looking at the sun they had just conjured away. It was discovered that the time of freefall of each test particle, measured according to this time, became infinite. However if we attached a clock to the said particle, it would arrive at the geometric centre of the object in a finite time period.
Theoreticians therefore proposed the following vision :
- This stationary, exterior solution finds a new, providential employment. In effect, gravitational collapse does take place in a very brief period (about one ten thousandth of a second for a destabilised neutron star). However as the phenomenon seems to last for an infinite time to an "exterior observer", a stationary solution can be used to describe an eminently unstationary phenomenon.
If there are no Thrushes, we'll eat Blackbirds....
Starting from this idea, theoreticians began to ask themselves what would happen to matter when it crossed the Schwarzschild surface. And there they found all the horrors mentioned earlier. The particle's time became... pure imagination. The particle's speed exceeded the speed of light. It becomes a tachyon, whose mass is ... imaginary etc., etc.
Some even suggested (and you can find it in many books) that on the interior of the sphere, the variable r transformed itself into time and the variable t into... radial distance.
As Jean Heidmann, cosmologist at Meudon, now retired, used to say :
- When the talk turns to black holes, you have to leave your common sense in the cloakroom...
Under these conditions, if we decide to forget common sense, where is the limit to unreasonableness? How do we decide to build a "physics of the unobservable".'

[Site of the day] thirdworldtraveler.com
07.18.04 (1:58 am) [edit]
thirdworldtraveler.com is a leftist site - people like Noam Chomsky are well represented there - and I have selected an article on their site untitled "Trilateralism" from Peter Thomson
http://www.thirdworldtraveler.com/Trilateralism/Bilderb erg.html" title="http://www.thirdworldtraveler.com/Trilateralism/Bilderb erg.html" target="_blank"http://www.thirdworldtraveler...
since after my article "Why I know better than any poll who will win the presidential race" http://www.tblog.com/template... waterlilychild said "never heard of bilderberg" I guess that many of you still didn't hear yet about Bilderberg although they are more and more mentioned in the mainstream medias.
As for Trilateral, well this is also an organisation that is tightly linked to Bilderberg since their members are quite the same and as such used to be rather secret in the past but now is coïncidently also exposing itself publicly though its web site trilateral.org and above all through the revelation of its own founder Brezinski - and with him Rockfeller since it was in fact at the express demand of Rockfeller that Brezinski founded this organisation - as he openly exposed their neocon ideas of imperialism in his book "the Grand Chessboard" see http://www.tblog.com/template...
According to Peter Thompson's essay "Bilderberg and the West" from the book "Trilateralism" (edited by Holly Sklar, South End Press, Boston), "Bilderberg is neither a world super-government nor is it merely a club where incidental shoptalk takes place. Top executives from the world's leading multinational corporations meet with top national political figures at Bilderberg meetings to consider jointly the immediate and long-term policies facing the West. . . "
"Bilderberg is not the only means of Western collective management of the world order, it is part of an increasingly dense system of transnational management. . ." writes Thompson. "Where necessary, a consensus is engineered on issues which must get congressional/ parliamentary approval, but wherever possible executive agreements between governments are used to avoid the democratic process altogether."
Thompson writes that "bodies like the US Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), the British Royal Institute for International Affairs, commonly known as 'Chatham House, and transnational counterparts like Bilderberg and the Trilateral Commission play a crucial role in formulating policy directions, molding establishment consensus and even testing for likely opposition."
Now you can fear why the neocons need also the democratic party. It's not for "our eyes only" of we the people it's for controlling our opposition through the control of the democratic party (through their choice of senator Edwards this year http://www.tblog.com/template...) since opposition will not come from the republican party.

What does Stock Market "anticipate" about the Presidential election
07.17.04 (12:38 pm) [edit]
There is a theory among traders that the stock market discounts information because they believe that insiders having some priviledged knowledge revealed them through the market as they would take position in it before everybody knows the news through the mainstream medias.
At the moment the Dow Jones has reached a technical point which is considered as a potential top since it fail to pass again 10550 at the moment. This would mean that left wing would win but Stock market would plunge at least on short term basis before or after the election :).
Nevertheless, independantly of left or right wing, presidential election year is statistically bullish (maybe because those in power that year will try to embellish the economics statistics) and the year after it is bearish so I reassure left wings it would not be totally the fault of the democratic party :D.

[Scary discovery] When Scientology invades Harvard Political Review Magazine
07.17.04 (11:03 am) [edit]
=http://www.hpronline.org/news... target="_blank"link
Unlock the Power Using the Church of Scientology's secrets to fix Washington By Jeffrey M. Rosenfeld Published: Sunday, April 1, 2001 Like millions of Americans, I sensed something wrong with the pervasive money, partisanship, and immorality in Washington, so I decided to do something about it.
I reasoned that Scientology, a new-age faith/multi-billion dollar empire, might be just the solution to Washington’s problems. After all, it must take a pretty special religion to inspire luminaries like Tom Cruise and Lisa Marie Presley. Intrigued by the possibility of setting the powers of Dianetics to work in Washington, I decided to investigate whether Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard could do for our representatives what Jesus Christ did for President Bush. In a series of phone calls, I presented myself to the Scientologists as an aspiring politician crippled by a failing spirituality and haunted by visions of my past life as President William McKinley, whose greatest moment was, incidentally, the successful attempt at his life that paved the way for Teddy Roosevelt’s presidency. I am happy to report that these discussions with various Scientologist churches yielded even more positive results than I had imagined.
Scientology, I was told by the Church’s Texas branch, would be a boon to my political prospects. Not only would courses in Scientology boost my communicative power, but I would actually become smarter as I followed the detoxifying rituals outlined in Hubbard’s Clear Body, Clear Mind, on sale now at a Scientologist church near you.
But the real benefit Scientology would bring to Washington is the church’s ability to help glean truths from past lives. Politicians may be surprised to learn that our greatest national resource isn’t our children or our oil but rather the wealth of information contained in the repressed memories of our past lives. Using auditing, their unique form of brain-cleansing psychoanalysis, Scientology allows its members to explore their past lives. When I inquired about tapping my own past life experience as a mediocre president, I was urged without delay to buy Mr. Hubbard’s Have You Lived Before This Life? (which, coincidentally, stands as a delightful example of how to commercially exploit Eastern faiths). This $35 masterpiece, offered by several of the churches I called, explains methods of recalling repressed memories and solves age-old puzzles such as the existence of ghosts.
Though nearly all the Scientologists I talked to refused to provide answers over the phone, one auditor I spoke with confirmed that I could in fact be the reincarnation of President McKinley. “It happens all the time,” he assured me. Another church employee confirmed my suspicions that my past life as a slain president was a preview of my future in this life as a successful politician. If the Scientologists are right, think of all the past life experiences embodied by the current members of Congress. Imagine what Jesse Helms could learn from his past life as Jefferson Davis!
Not only can auditing reveal past lives, it can discover past instances of pain-in Sciento-babble, “engrams”-that now interfere with a person’s well-being. For those of you who did not take high school biology from L. Ron Hubbard, engrams can result in coronary disease, tuberculosis, and tone deafness. In fact, Scientology has incontestably proven that colds and most other ailments are not caused by viruses-germ theory is so 20th century. Auditing is especially effective in cases of prenatal engrams, trauma caused by a mother’s crying, hiccupping, or masturbating; “pre-sperm recordings,” rumored to plague Rep. Tom Delay, are also common. Find out more in Hubbard’s “cold-blooded and factual account of your last 60 trillion years,” A History of Man.
Much good can be done by ridding our representatives of such engrams and sending them off with non-tautological guiding principles like “If it’s true for you, it’s true for you,” which the Tampa church pitched at me. Though such vague maxims may make “compassionate conservatism” appear straightforward and specific, millions of Scientologists can assure you of their value.
Ultimately, a marriage between politics and Scientology could be exactly what Washington needs. It might be refreshing to bring a “sense of civility and honor” to Washington, even if the vehicle for such change is the stifling force of a cult. Such a move would also finally get the money out of Washington since most of it would now be channeled to Scientology’s L.A. headquarters. Indeed, unless Washington wakes up to the implicit philosophical genius in L. Ron Hubbard’s science fiction masterpieces, we may be doomed to the fate of Battlefield Earth.

What does it change for your life that God would exist or not ?
07.17.04 (8:57 am) [edit]
For me it wouldn't change the way I would live because I live in accordance with my nature and not in accordance with a punishment or reward expectation from God even in the case he would exist (that's a bit the same relative to my parents when I was a child).
The only thing that It would change is that I would be happy if I could know that I would continue to persue life somehow with the same person I love. But since I'm not sure I don't want to upset myself with false hope. Well I could, like the famous Philosopher Pascal, make a bet on God's existence because I would have nothing to lose and everything to win but it's kind of hypocrisis or mercantil deal for me and it's against my nature to do so :). Also, if I bet that God exists, I could also bet that God is so great that he doesn't need to be a God of revenge and behaves like a politician but only a loving God. So it's not more bad not to believe in him than to believe in him if I live in accordance with myself that is to say the law of God since he made me as I am. My intuition is that God would agree with that logic if ever He is :). So God I don't believe in you because I bet you would forgive me :).
This decision conducts me to tolerate both believers and non-believers in God. But I don't tolerate sects or believers who behave like sect members.

[Software resource] Know Thu Self :D
07.17.04 (8:15 am) [edit]
I don't know what the purpose of life is, maybe there is no purpose maybe it's just as simple as discovering oneself. Whatever knowing oneself is not so easy because we are multifacettes. Everybody I think has his Dr Jekyl and Mr Hyde sides.
Knowing oneself is useful to direct one's action more efficiently or sometimes to avoid some actions. I have never done anything special though to do so because I just don't know how or I'm too lazy or any other reason. I will never go and see a psycholog or worst an astrolog - all the more that my mother did so and it was announced that I would die mysteriously at 20 years but happily more than a dozen years later I'm still there :D.
Nevertheless I can make fun with some piece of software I found on Internet notably this one : http://decoz.com/NumeroSoftwr...
I have tried with Einstein, Hitler, my brother and of course myself. For Hitler and my brother nothing special. Einstein seems to correspond. As for me, well here it is and I will tell later what I think is true, what I think is wrong in another post:
----------
Your Life Path is 15/6
___, you possess great compassion and seek to be of service to others. You have concern for the weak and the downtrodden. You are a healer and a helper to others. You are capable of giving comfort to those in need and will frequently offer a shoulder for others to cry on. Your task in life is to develop the tools necessary to be truly helpful to others, rather than to simply be a sympathetic ear. You must find the balance between help and interference. In the same way, you must learn the delicate art of the counselor who knows when to leave the struggle to others and when to avoid taking away the necessary experiences and lessons of life. You are naturally balanced. Therefore, you are well equipped to support and ground others in times of trial. It is in your nature to take on responsibility -- you often fill the void left by others -- and do not turn away from personal sacrifice. At times, you may feel overburdened by the travails of others. However, the love others bestow upon you is your well deserved reward. ___, you try to maintain harmony within the family or group, balancing and fusing divergent forces. You seek marriage and are often a wonderful parent, offering warmth, protection, and understanding to children. You are generous, kind, and attractive. You are often admired even adored which baffles you. You are humble and yet you carry a deep pride. You move well and gracefully, but will have to work to stay in shape. Seek out physical exercise and limit the sweets and dairy you crave to keep yourself from becoming plump and round. When young, you must be careful not to choose partners for the wrong reasons. Do not let sentimentality influence your decision, especially those involving the choice of a spouse. You need to be needed, but must learn to discriminate between those you can help and others who are made weaker by your care. After all, it is in your nature to be attracted to the weaker brothers and sisters among us. The temptation, and the danger for you, is to think of yourself as the savior of the world, carrying the burdens of others on your shoulders. ___, you are blessed with musical talent, as well as in the visual and performing arts. However, your creativity may well be suppressed due to your willingness to sacrifice, or your inability to fully appreciate your talents. This is not to say that you cannot excel in these areas; on the contrary, you have the talent, and with effort you can make a success in a number of artistic fields. You also have enormous talent in business. You are blessed with a great deal of charm and charisma, which you use effectively to attract the people and support you need.
Your Expression is 9
___, you are the humanitarian. You are attracted to a cause or a movement whose purpose is to make a better world. You are extremely idealistic, sometimes to the point of being naive about people or methods. You have great compassion and seek to create a more humane society. You are drawn to those who suffer physically or are at the hand of injustice. You are the righter of wrongs. Your deepest intention is to transform the world.
You are willing to sacrifice in order to advance your cause. Indeed, this seems to be a theme in your life. From time to time, you find yourself involved in a project whose very life depends upon your willingness to sacrifice something that relates directly to your ego. You are highly idealistic. You are also a visionary, with the ability to influence and direct the masses. Deep inside, you long for the love and approval of the many, and seek fame. Part of your hunger for fame has to do with your need for validation; you are your own harshest critic. ___, you realize your greatest satisfaction when you are involved in some activity that directly benefits the public good. Politics, law, protection of the environment, teaching, and healing are areas in which you would succeed. You have a broad view of humanity and are not shackled with prejudice. You should have friends and associates from all walks of life, all colors and religious backgrounds. People fascinate and enrich you. A wide diversity of people and experiences stimulate and bring forth qualities within you that would otherwise lay dormant. You have an abundance of artistic talent. Many with your Expression number find themselves in the arts, especially in literature, painting, and the visual and performing arts. The number 9 indicates the completion of a cycle or a block of learning. The 9 Expression suggests that you have reached the point where a breakthrough can occur; during this lifetime you can apply all that you have learned along your evolutionary path and complete a major stage in your development. This is why we find many geniuses with the 9 Expression. You have the ability to synthesize many diverse bits of knowledge into a unified whole. ___, your appearance is important. You are keenly aware of how others perceive you. As a result, others see you as a person with a great deal of control. Conversely, you are charismatic. Despite the cool and distant personality you project, people are attracted to you. You tend to express your love somewhat impersonally. You tend to be preoccupied with your vision or cause, and sometimes overlook the needs of those closest to you. You need to be reminded to give your love more personally and more openly. Ironically, you are a very loving and sincere person, but often neglect to express what you truly feel. In the same way, you can overlook your own needs. You can avoid sharing of your deeper feelings, creating a reservoir of emotion. You tend to postpone your personal satisfaction in favor of some larger work. Try to be more spontaneous and courageous about showing your real self, including your vulnerability. Your basic belief in the goodness of humanity is unshakable. This causes you to encourage the best in people, but occasionally makes you vulnerable to being taken advantage of. You are not a very good judge of character. The surest way to personal satisfaction is for you to become part of some larger social cause. Your nature is to serve. You are happiest when you feel you are helping to advance the human race.
Your Heart's Desire is 7
___, you love knowledge, study, and insight. You value the gifts of your mind, which you use to great advantage to penetrate the mysteries of life. You study things in-depth. You search beneath the surface of things. You abhor shallow judgments or opinions. You have a natural gift for analysis and research. Once you have grasped the facts of a subject, your creativity and abstract approach lifts your thinking beyond the rudimentary to the philosophical. You have a theoretical mind, but rather than indulge in fantasies or idle thought, you prefer to base your theories upon scientific facts. ___, you enjoy mental and physical puzzles -- figuring them out, taking them apart, and putting them back together. Some people may perceive you as cool or aloof. You are somewhat introverted; you may feel slightly removed and even a little different. The fantasy of the hermit or monk engaged in a life of study and meditation appeals to you. In relationships, you tend to keep things business-like and impersonal. You prefer to talk about the facts of a given situation, rather than the cloudier issues of emotions and personal feelings. You distrust feelings -- both your own and those of others. The whole emotional realm strikes you as unreliable, and a bit unnecessary. ___, your inability to fully understand the emotional aspect of life is your Achilles heel. You are so rational that the unpredictability of the heart frightens and surprises you. Your challenge is to trust. You need to share your heart with someone. This is a courageous step for you, but will result in enormous growth and satisfaction. The advice here is to make a true connection with another human being. Without it, you may marry out of convenience or to fulfill social expectations, but it will not lead you out of loneliness. The more removed you are from people, the more you risk isolation, bitterness, and a cynical attitude toward life. This choice represents a true crossroads in your development. By sharing yourself with others (without compromising your independence and need for privacy) you can cultivate your enormous charm and share your understanding of life. You are a natural teacher and advisor. And the wealth of knowledge you will accumulate in life is meant to be shared with others. This is not to say that you must compromise on your need for privacy or time spent alone to contemplate life. These are natural aspects of your personality, which are essential to your growth. These characteristics should not be threatening to your spouse, but must be understood as fundamental to your being. ___, you are blessed with a great reserve of intuition, which can be cultivated by regular meditation and contemplation. Your "inner voice" is your greatest guide and friend. You are idealistic and have high expectations for yourself. Learn to balance your serious nature with regular doses of fun. Your intelligence and cultivation make you charming and distinguished in appearance. As you get older and more comfortable with your identity, people are naturally attracted to you. They see your wisdom, your deep understanding of life, and the refinement you radiate.

[quote of the day] Karl Marx said
07.17.04 (4:07 am) [edit]
in his "Communist Manifesto":
"MONEY plays the largEST part in determining the course of history."
---------
- This implies that ideology or people don't play the largest part.
- This implies that the fundamental question in History should be: "who financed Communism", "who financed Nazism", can you find the answer in scholar's history books ? Can you only find the question (everybody knows asking the good question is getting half of the solution of a problem) ? If no, you should ask why you don't, why you weren't told who, because the answer could be too much revealing.
---------
Don't be astonished that I'm asking "Why". By doing so I'm just applying a scientific approach to History: remember Feynman's book review "What Do You Care What Other People Think Mr Feynman ?" it is said:
http://www.tblog.com/templates/index.php?bid=funnydiscovery&st atic=225064" title="http://www.tblog.com/templates/index.php?bid=funnydiscovery&st atic=225064" target="_blank"http://www.tblog.com/template...
'The most important thing that Melville taught young Feynman was to ask, "Why?" and to not just accept things as they were, but to find out the reasons that they were in whatever way he could.'

Kerry said that he would only go to war at the demand of the United Nations. This is probably the trick he could use as excuse in front of his electors for the next war (see "According to chaostan.com [a geostrategic investment newsletter so not politically biased] war will be intensified after the elections and draft more likely" http://www.tblog.com/template...)

[Associated Press] "US may have let 9/11 attacks to happen"
07.17.04 (1:52 am) [edit]
I post this article which is only fuzzy opinion so as to contrast it with the other article (Is 9/11 a "psy ops") which is more factual. I mean when I read that kind of article, I rather tend to believe that it is pure imagination or political attack than objective argument so it's rather a subtle way to discredit that kind of opinion than the contrary.
http://www.hindustantimes.com/2003/Sep/08/181_36490 0" title="http://www.hindustantimes.com/2003/Sep/08/181_36490 0" target="_blank"http://www.hindustantimes.com...%2C00050003.htm
US may have let 9/11 attacks to happen: Ex-UK minister Associated Press London, September 6
A former minister in Prime Minister Tony Blair's government suggested in a newspaper piece on Saturday that the United States may have knowingly allowed the September 11, 2001, attacks to happen so it would have a pretext for wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Writing in The Guardian, former Environment Minister Michael Meacher said America's air defense response was inexplicably slow the morning four hijacked passenger jets destroyed the World Trade Center and crashed into the Pentagon and a Pennsylvania field, killing more than 3,000.
"Was this inaction simply the result of key people disregarding, or being ignorant of, the evidence?" he wrote, referring to intelligence clues he said were ignored before the attacks. "Or could US air security operations have been deliberately stood down on September 11? If so, why, and on whose authority?" Meacher, who served as environment minister for six years before being dismissed when Blair reorganized his ministers in June, later told British Broadcasting Corp radio that he didn't believe the US government had planned the attacks.
"I don't think that we can conceivably say even that they allowed it, but when it actually happened, it was a very convenient pretext to put in place a plan for an attack on Afghanistan and Iraq, both of which are motivated by the need to get control of the remaining oil supplies in the world," he said. "It was an extraordinarily convenient pretext, that's all I am saying."
A call to the US embassy in London went unanswered Saturday. The Guardian quoted an unidentified embassy spokesman as dismissing Meacher's "fantastic allegations, especially his assertion that the US government knowingly stood by while terrorists killed some 3,000 innocents in New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia."
The charges, the spokesman reportedly said "would be monstrous, and monstrously offensive, if they came from someone serious or credible."
A spokesman for Blair said the prime minister did not share Meacher's views "because they are completely wrong and they are views which we would reject utterly."
Meacher wrote that the US-led war on terrorism was a "bogus cover" for achieving broad, pre-existing strategic goals, including "a blueprint for US world domination" driven by the desire for greater control of global oil supplies.
He said US President George W Bush's administration had prepared plans for wars in Afghanistan and Iraq before the terror attacks, but that they were politically impossible until September 11.

Was 9/11 a "psy ops"
07.17.04 (1:50 am) [edit]
I post this since the polemic has been launched in medias (a bit late by them as usual since several years have now passed) see above post.
In military's jargon psy ops means "Psychological Operations".
There is no absolute proof that 9/11 was such an intentional "psy ops" but judge by yourself by reading what was written in 1997 - so BEFORE 9/11 - by Brezinski in his book "the Grand Chessboard": it is himself that makes the insinuation that such kind of event was needed because in his own terms "Democracy is inimical to IMPERIAL mobilization" and also because it is an "economic self-denial" [my comment: for the people not for the war makers who sell weapons to opposite camps]:
http://www.fromthewilderness.com/free/ww3/zbig.html" title="http://www.fromthewilderness.com/free/ww3/zbig.html" target="_blank"http://www.fromthewilderness....
Brezinski according to himself is - Trustee and founder of the Trilateral Commission (founder with and at the demand of Rockfeller) - Associate of Henry Kissinger - International advisor of several major US/Global corporations - Board of Directors, The Council on Foreign Relations - National Security Advisor to President Jimmy Carter - Co-chairman of the Bush National Security Advisory Task Force.
[my comments: so no matter left or right gov he is involved in both]
"The attitude of the American public toward the external projection of American power has been much more ambivalent. The public supported America's engagement in World War II largely BECAUSE OF THE SHOCK EFFECT OF THE JAPANESE ATTACK ON PEARL HARBOR. (PP 24-5)
"America is too democratic at home to be autocratic abroad. This limits the use of America's power, especially its capacity for military intimidation. Never before has a populist democracy attained international supremacy. But the pursuit of power is not a goal that commands popular passion, EXCEPT IN CONDITIONS OF A SUDDEN THREAT OR CHALLENGE TO THE PUBLIC'S SENSE OF DOMESTIC WELL-BEING. The economic self-denial (that is, defense spending) and the human sacrifice (casualties, even among professional soldiers) required in the effort are uncongenial to democratic instincts. Democracy is inimical to imperial mobilization." (p.35)
"...To put it in a terminology that harkens back to the more brutal age of ancient empires, the three grand imperatives of imperial geostrategy are to prevent collusion and maintain security dependence among the vassals, to keep tributaries pliant and protected" (p.40)
"Moreover, as America becomes an increasingly multi-cultural society, it may find it more difficult to fashion a consensus on foreign policy issues, except in the circumstance of a truly massive and widely perceived DIRECT EXTERNAL THREAT."æ (p. 211)
[My comments: he is a bit repetitive except the interesting mention that this threat must be perceived as EXTERNAL - what can be more direct and external than 9/11 ?]

[Inspirational word for the day] AMNESIA
07.16.04 (9:39 am) [edit]
If people weren't so full of it they would remember history. But could they only when all they were teached at school are just dates of battles and not the causes behind ?
http://www.randomhouse.com/wotd/index.pperl?date=19970903" title="http://www.randomhouse.com/wotd/index.pperl?date=19970903" target="_blank"http://www.randomhouse.com/wo...
The word amnesia is indeed a borrowing from Greek, from the word amnesía [with a long "e"] 'forgetfulness; oblivion', an alteration of amnestía [also long "e"], the source of English amnesty. This is eventually derived from the negative prefix a- (as in amoral or atonal) and the verb mnasthai 'to remember', related to the English word mind.
Amnesia is a relatively recent borrowing, first found in the late eighteenth century.

07.16.04 (7:34 am) [edit]
I am a veteran of Internet but it is the first time I am blogging for an experimental time.
The problem with blogging is that you have very limited interactivity with people unlike forums.
Also the number of people you can reach are much lower. I can get 2000 connections for one single post on a forum whereas since ten days I am here I got about the same number for the whole blog: clearly the return is not in favor of blog :). On blogger it would be much worst than on tblog as there are so many posters that you would disappear in the black hole of the mass :D.
Nevertheless I will continue a little bit - also there is an advantage: you control the posts and don't get polluted by inevitable acephalous worms like reducto

My post is inspired by the post of DrForBush http://www.tblog.com/templates/index.php?bid=DrForbush&static= 232319" title="http://www.tblog.com/templates/index.php?bid=DrForbush&static= 232319" target="_blank"http://www.tblog.com/template...
"...professors know which concepts are easy and which concepts are more difficult. Therefore they can design a test with a given mean for the students in any given class. As a physics professor I am able to design a test that mean score is 80% or 50%. When I design a test with a mean of 50% there will always be a student that gets 90% and there will always be a student that gets 20%. This is a good measure of how well a student understands the material."
This reminds me of this funny story: when I was at engineering school I had to organise seminars on the theme of Quality Management. I invited an eminent guy who was the CEO of a consulting firm and friend of the famous quality Guru Edwards Deming. I had to persuade him to come so I went to see him. And during the discussion he learnt me that he was from time to time professor in a reputed business school - that kind of schools who form managers to be sharks :D - and he explained to me how he grades his students: he draws a chart with all the notes of students, he calculates the average and dispersion of notes (in the jargon of Quality Field it is called a statistical process control or SPC chart), the majority (about 95%) around the average gets the final same grade B, only those who are really exceptional on the good side or bad side get the grade A or C :). The B grades have no way to be jealous of each other and they know that those who get A or C really merit their grade statistically speaking.

It's not really about Public Money but about the process of accumulating wealth from personal point of view but it helps to understand how interest works in a funny concrete way.

Why I have never engaged myself in any political Party, Religion or Sect
07.16.04 (1:40 am) [edit]
I have some strong convictions like many. But unlike many I refuse to engage myself into any political Party (even those who pretend to be "free" thinkers), Religion or Sect to defend them. For me the result will be the inverse: it is the best way to renounce to its own convictions little by little. Why ? Because you must be surhuman to resist this :
"Most people prefer to believe their leaders are just and fair even in the face of evidence to the contrary, because once a citizen acknowledges that the government under which they live is lying and corrupt, the citizen has to choose what he or she will do about it. To take action in the face of a corrupt government entails risks of harm to life and loved ones. To choose to do nothing is to surrender one’s self-image of standing for principles. Most people do not have the courage to face that choice. 'Hence, most propaganda is not designed to fool the critical thinker but only to give moral cowards an excuse not to think at all.'"
— Michael Rivero
I don't feel any stronger than anybody else to be able to do so - I would be just self-rigtheous if I pretended that I could. So it's easier for me to be critical because I belong to no partisan organs.
So it would be easier for people also if they try to detach little by little from their own political party (little by little only because it is the surest path to succeed in a not so easy task) before being able to really think and act in accordance to their true convictions and not act in the interest of the Party or Cult-Leader.

Everybody is frightened of what could happen in the future more in the US than anywhere else at the moment since the threat is directly targeting the US.
It is evident that refusing to see the alert of coming threat would be to behave like before the 11th September and the consequence has been dreadfull. It is said that Ben Laden or whoever is behind these attacks will be graduating them.
So there is no choice. I'm sorry if I'm frightening some of you but once the fear is passed, let's try to plan for the future.

07.15.04 (7:45 am) [edit]
... they must treat the cause of all wars: the cause of all wars is nothing but Money everything else is just pretext to fool the people. As long as people are too complacent with public money that is spent for wars, there will always be wars because that's the best mean to pump public money at the greatest rate with such a good pretext into the pocket of a few without people suspecting it. This complacency is probably due to their ignorance about Public Money's stuffs - also every expert seems almost to make them believe that it is out of their understanding - that's the reason I have posted the thread "The Fed and Your Money" which contains a very comprehensive and interesting resource on the subject - I swear you will really grasp it on first hearing: http://www.tblog.com/templates/index.php?bid=funnydiscovery&st atic=231737" title="http://www.tblog.com/templates/index.php?bid=funnydiscovery&st atic=231737" target="_blank"http://www.tblog.com/template...

* 9-11 was not so much an attack as a trap, a lure to get America into the third world war; and, it is working.
* So far, the US is in a mini-mobilization; full mobilization has been delayed until after the elections, and the cost will cause vast changes in flows of money.
* The sheer physical size of the war, which stretches from the west coast of Africa to the Pacific, means the war will be as big, expensive and important to investors as World War II.
* Since 3600 BC there have been more than 14,000 wars, and in every case studied by Mr. Maybury, there were people who not only emerged unscathed, they prospered
* Why a draft has become more likely.
Summary of July's Issue

* Do not expect Kerry to be an improvement.
* The new inflation has arrived.
* Why the Pentagon's requests for new fleets of bombers and ships makes a trillion dollar deficit and double-digit inflation a near certainty.
* More evidence a draft is on the way.
* The real reason we are in this war is foreign aid. * How Washington's foreign policy causes so much hatred for America

The global loan sharks
© 2001 WorldNetDaily.com
I've never been more proud of any piece of journalism than I am of this month's cover story in WorldNet magazine, the offline companion to WorldNetDaily.com.
Written by Anne Williamson, one of the world's most knowledgeable experts on the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, it tells a fantastic but true story of money and power and the way these institutions adversely affect the lives of millions and threaten the financial and personal security of every American.
Most people don't understand this story. Most people don't have a clue as to what the IMF and the World Bank are. Most people don't know anything about the way they threaten the interests of average Americans.
I never understood it myself until I read Anne Williamson's extremely insightful piece in WorldNet Magazine this month.
She tells the story by addressing these key issues:
* How multinational institutions economically rape nations in the guise of helping them; * Why the U.S. abandoned the gold standard; * How the gold market is being manipulated; * The IMF's push for global currency; * How Bill Clinton opened the floodgates for the multinational "loan sharks" by presiding over the commercialization of the federal government; * How the enormous cost of international bankers' ill-advised loans to irresponsible debtor nations has been transformed on the backs of American taxpayers; * How all this has affected the U.S. stock market; * How a congressional committee used the pretext of policing foreign assistance to rebirth the infamous "Know Your Customer" legislation -- a plan first exposed in WorldNetDaily.com that would require banks to spy on their customers; * How drug money is laundered to support political candidates; * And whether the U.S. economy is likely to meltdown because of all this in the next few years.
Only Anne Williamson could write this sizzling "special report." She is a veteran investigative reporter who has written for the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times -- two venues that would never tell this amazing story.
Williamson's report is a follow-up to her explosive cover story in the March issue of WorldNet, in which she exposed the Federal Reserve.

http://www.jokeswarehouse.com/cgi-bin/viewjoke2.cgi?id=20040218
Can you imagine working for a company that has a little more than 500 employees and has the following statistics:
*29 have been accused of spousal abuse
* 7 have been arrested for fraud
* 19 have been accused of writing bad checks
* 117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses
* 3 have done time for assault
* 71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit
* 14 have been arrested on drug-related charges
* 8 have been arrested for shoplifting
* 21 are currently defendants in lawsuits
* 84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year
* 1 one ran a stop sign and killed a man on a motorcycle
Can you guess which organization this is?

Why Gov's lies were more imaginative, funny but also more difficult to make in the old days :D
07.15.04 (12:11 am) [edit]
In the old days Gov couldn't use stats to lie (see previous post "the Royal Statistical Society have raised concerns about the quality of statistics" http://www.tblog.com/template...) so they have to have much more imagination to do so. Example during the Mississipi Bubble from the classic "Memoirs of Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds" by Charles Mackay 1852
=http://www.econlib.org/librar... target="_blank"link
"The value of shares in the Louisiana, or Mississippi stock, had fallen very rapidly, and few indeed were found to believe the tales that had once been told of the immense wealth of that region. A last EFFORT WAS THEREFORE TRIED TO RESTORE THE PUBLIC CONFIDENCE IN THE MISSISSIPPI PROJECT [emphasized by me]. For this purpose, a general conscription of all the poor wretches in Paris was made BY ORDER OF GOVERNMENT [emphasized by me]. Upwards of six thousand of the very refuse of the population were impressed, as if in time of war, and were provided with clothes and tools to be embarked for New Orleans, to work in the gold mines alleged to abound there. They were paraded day after day through the streets with their pikes and shovels, and then sent off in small detachments to the out-ports to be shipped for America. Two-thirds of them never reached their destination, but dispersed themselves over the country, sold their tools for what they could get, and returned to their old course of life. In less than three weeks afterwards, one-half of them were to be found again in Paris. THE MANOEUVRE, HOWEVER, CAUSED A TRIFLING ADVANCE IN MISSISSIPI STOCK [emphasized by me]. Many persons of superabundant gullibility believed that operations had begun in earnest in the new Golconda, and that gold and silver ingots would again be found in France."
------------------------- ------ So when today they talk about "restoring public confidence" you know what it has always meant see

the Royal Statistical Society have raised concerns about the quality of statistics
07.14.04 (11:39 pm) [edit]
"...the Royal Statistical Society have raised concerns about the quality of statistics"
The distrust in Gov's Statistics is not exclusive to America this has been debated in UK:
http://www.archive.official-documents.co.uk/document/ons/govstat/c hap-1.htm" title="http://www.archive.official-documents.co.uk/document/ons/govstat/c hap-1.htm" target="_blank"http://www.archive.official-d...
Statistics: A Matter of Trust Chapter 1 ------------------------- ------------------------- ------------------------- ----- Introduction
1.1. Reliable official statistics are a cornerstone of democracy and are essential to good public management and accountability. The public, government and Parliament all have a legitimate interest in statistics which provide an objective account of the economy and society, both over time and geographically. Such statistics offer a window on the work and performance of government itself. They also help government in the formulation and evaluation of policies and in the management of services for which they are responsible. It is the responsibility of government to provide reliable official statistics and to ensure the public has confidence in them.
1.2. The current range of UK official statistics is wide, covering all key areas of national life. However, PUBLIC CONFIDENCE IN THE INTEGRITY OF OFFICIAL STATISTICS HAS BEEN CALLED INTO QUESTION. REPORTS BY A NUMBER OF ORGANISATIONS AND BODIES, INCLUDING PARLIAMENT AND THE ROYAL STATISTICAL SOCIETY HAVE RAISED CONCERNS ABOUT THE QUALITY OF STATISTICS AND THEIR DEGREE OF FREEDOM FROM POLITICAL INTERFERENCE. SURVEYS INDICATE THAT THE PUBLIC SHARES THIS CONCERN.

One day, when I was a young engineer looking for my first job, I attended a seminar directed by a CEO of a software firm, a guy who was from one of the most prestigious engineering school and had been a former director at Microsoft - just to say that I couldn't guess what would happen next. The seminar by itself wasn't interesting it is what happened at the end.
At the end, a group of persons stayed to ask some questions to the guy. I was among them. Then somebody, I don't remember why, made a mystical joke about the Karma I then laughed and exclaimed "Whaouf I don't believe in that kind of stuff !". To my surprise the CEO guy stared at me and began to explain what karma was. I was listening to him very amused interiorily because I thought in myself "this guy is completely crazy" but I'm always curious so I tried to keep some appearence of seriousness. He continued to explain that everything was vibration etc. and that the destiny of planet Earth was at a turning point because the snake race was coming back. The snake race ? What's that ? I had already heard the term karma but never heard of a snake race. He then precised that they weren't even aware themselves that they were belonging to that race and that they have appeared once already by reincarning into creatures called the nazis. It is when he pretended to have some mediumnic power and have helped some people haunted by demoniac spirits (he gave as example that he helped a guy fight himself or his supposedly other self who was asking him to kill his wife  ) that I told to myself well well well, enough is enough, what on earth am I doing here. So I quit. Before doing so I asked him: "do you often tell that kind of story to people ?" He replied "no" - this worried me because I wondered why he did so then : did I have a physical appearance of a naive guy or what :D. When 2 years later I encountered him again, he recognised me by staring at me insistently but I faint not to recognise him and he got out of my mind.
But with what has happened in the world those recent years, I then remembered him again and told myself maybe he was a fool but coïncidently he may be right. That's why I now want to study more closely why Hitler has become Hitler, I want to study his thoughts, his propaganda methods because you cannot fight this kind of ideology without understanding the whole context. And I contend that what I learned at school - the dates of all battles during WWII, who win and who lost them - were pretty useless to avoid the resurgence of such regim and alike - that it comes from right or left doesn't really matter. That is my solution. The solution of the guy was that if there was an enough number of people on earth who would pray against them the snake race would be defeated but it's not my kind of stuff :).

[The Art of War] or the Art of deceit
07.14.04 (9:36 am) [edit]
"Beware the leader who bangs the drums of war in order to whip the citizenry into a patriotic fervor, for patriotism is indeed a double-edged sword. It both emboldens the blood, just as it narrows the mind. And when the drums of war have reached a fever pitch and the blood boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no need in seizing the rights of the citizenry. Rather, the citizenry, infused with fear and blinded by patriotism, will offer up all of their rights unto the leader and gladly so. How do I know? For this is what I have done. And I am Caesar." -- It is attributed to Julius Caesar but there is a polemic about its authenticity see http://urbanlegends.about.com... Nevertheless it contains some wisdom :)
The second is genuine:
"Why of course the people don't want war. Why should some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece? Naturally the common people don't want war: neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country."
- Hermann Goering, Nazi Reichsmarschall

After SIR Evelyn de Rothschild who declared "Capitalism is a danger to itself. Only a new emphasis on ethics can restore confidence in the system" (see =http://www.tblog.com/template... target="_blank"link), it seems that all the Lords, Sirs and nobilities on earth have suddenly collided for the Good willing to defend "us the people". Frankly would you believe them (see also SIR Jimmy Goldsmith =http://www.tblog.com/template... target="_blank"link) : they let Bush and Blair throw their banana skins under the feet of the people and after that they can come and pretend to play the saviors from the two evil bad guys but who pocketed the benefit of the war with all the "cost" that it has generated (why do they call that only "cost" - for the people - and not also "benefit" for them) :D

What Osama Bin Laden's brother doesn't want you to know
07.14.04 (2:26 am) [edit]
Forbidden Truth US - Taliban Secret Oil Diplomacy, Saudi Arabia and the Failed Search for bin Laden This book was banned in Switzerland at the request of Osama Bin Laden's brother.
If you want to know why see this =http://www.hereinreality.com/...article's link: "Who Killed John O'Neill?"
Exerpt:
"O'Neill was a man Osama bin Laden wanted dead. O'Neill had been a Deputy Director of the FBI, and Osama bin Laden's main pursuer in the US government. ... Just two weeks, TWO WEEKS, prior to the attack, O'Neill had left his job with the FBI. ... he was leaving the FBI to become the head of security at the World Trade Center.
'The main obstacles to investigate Islamic terrorism were US oil corporate interests, and the role played by Saudi Arabia in it,' O'Neill reportedly told the authors of an explosive new book, Hidden Truth (Forbidden Truth in the US), by intelligence analysts Charles Brisard and Guillaume Dasquie. Brisard met O'Neill several times last summer and reports that O'Neill complained bitterly that the US State Department - and behind it the oil lobby who make up President Bush's entourage - blocked attempts to prove bin Laden's guilt.

An other clue that the Super Elite Power wants the Democratic Party to win
07.13.04 (11:50 pm) [edit]
Part I of the article see: "Why I know better than any poll who will win the presidential race" http://www.tblog.com/templates/index.php?bid=funnydiscovery&st atic=230027" title="http://www.tblog.com/templates/index.php?bid=funnydiscovery&st atic=230027" target="_blank"http://www.tblog.com/template...
Part II below:
Just yesterday (July 13th) the Guardian Limited published an article untitled "Capitalism is a danger to itself Only a new emphasis on ethics can restore confidence in the system"
HTTP://WWW.GUARDIAN.CO.UK/COMMENT/STORY/0%2C3604 %2C1259807%2C00.HTML
Well these kind of articles are frequent in the medias. But the author of the article is not Mr Anybody but SIR Evelyn de Rothschild, former chairman of the merchant bank NM Rothschild Ltd. Although it is precised at the end of the article that "these are his personal views", he wouldn't have commited such a point of view without the consent of his clan. If there is a rule that is important in these dynasties families it is the obediance to the clan's directives.
Since the democratic party has the image of being associated with ethics that is why I say that the super elites want to favor the left wing. Is it so astonishing ? No they have favored Tony Blair in Great Britain, who is at left, and it didn't prevent Great Britain to go to war with Bush, in fact to initiate the war.
Kerry is much like Tony Blair: he is at left but ready to commit some "sins" in the name of Realistic Politics like going to war, signing the Patriot acts with a big advantage for the Super Elite's Group : the left wing partisans won't protest too much at least much less than if Bush would conduct exactly the same politics.
As Kenneth Galbraith has denounced in his book the "economics of innocent fraud" see Book's review HTTP://WWW.TBLOG.COM/TEMPLATES/INDEX.PHP?BID=FUNNYDISCOVERY&ST ATIC=228124 "the management of giant corporations controls not only the private sector, BUT ALSO THE PUBLIC SECTOR, TOO, FROM POLITICIANS, TO THE FEDERAL RESERVE BANK, TO THE PENTAGON [emphasized by me]." This means that whatever the issue of this presidential election, politics won't change much except for the perception that it would be more under ethic rules whereas in reality everything would stay fundamentally unchanged.

Why I know better than any poll who will win the presidential race :D
07.13.04 (12:25 pm) [edit]
This is the last poll I saw on softvote http://www.softvote.com" title="http://www.softvote.com" target="_blank"http://www.softvote.com
George Bush 45 % John Kerry 45 % Ralph Nader 3 % Undecided 6 %
According to this poll there is no advantage for one or the other candidate.
But I can tell you who will probably win: KERRY ! Why will you ask ? Not because he is the best candidate, not because he is my prefered candidate, not because I have super psychic power, not because of anything you could think about except ...
... except that a member of the democratic party was elected to assist the last Bilderberg's Group's conference.
You don't know what Bilderberg's Group is ? A few years ago it was so secretive that its very existence during 50 years was pure speculation but since a few years they have timidly begun to announce their annual meeting in Reuters the well-reknowned financial newspaper.
So today there is no more secret around who assisted the Bilderberg's meeting : as reported in worldnetdaily for example, Senator Edwards was at their last conference. http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=39333" title="http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=39333" target="_blank"http://www.worldnetdaily.com/...
And so what ? Well it is a kind of "tradition" that president, vice-president or prime-minister in the WHOLE WORLD (so for example Tony Blair for Great Britain) have to receive the benediction of this group before having access to their "dream's job". There is no surprise - for people who know - that Senator Edwards was later "chosen" as Vice-President by Kerry although Kerry thought or at least declared before that he was not experimented enough for this post.
Believe this or not or take it as a bet :)

Why you should complain Reducto: he is a victim of cognitive dissonance :)
07.13.04 (8:44 am) [edit]
created by manipulators as explained here
link
"Cognitive dissonance is the state of confusion that occurs when facts become twisted into half-truths, colliding with common sense and suddenly you are convinced 2+2 = 5. Your instincts tell you something isn’t right; yet the information you are fed and exposed to counteracts your instincts causing you to doubt yourself. Some refer to this as Orwellian speak, the act of taking antonyms and presenting them as synonyms: War is Peace, Consent is Patriotism, Disagreement is Anti-American or Rights are Weaknesses. These are some of the Orwellian messages Americans are currently sifting through.
Cognitive dissonance also occurs in the pairing of unrelated facts to create correlation. The best of example of this is President Bush’s speech in which he mentioned Iraq and the September 11th attacks in the same sentence. The close proximity of the mentions is designed to create a correlation in peoples’ minds even when the reality is different. By insinuating, people subconsciously take the idea and turn it to a possibility. Through repetition, the correlation becomes fact based upon misinformation. In time, the reality is forgotten and the revision becomes the truth. According to an ABC Poll only 19% of Americans know Iraq had nothing to do with 9-11 nor were any of the hijackers Iraqi. That means over 75% of Americans have bought into the confusion and taken it as fact.
This is the power of cognitive dissonance: to revise history, change facts and make fiction truth and the truth treason. "

[Joke] The Chinese and Steven Spielberg
07.13.04 (2:02 am) [edit]
A Chinese man went into a bar in Hawaii to have some drinks. At the bar was Hollywood director, Steven Spielberg. After a round of beer the Chinese sensed that the famous director was glaring at him.Suddenly, in a flash the Chinese crashed down from his stool, felled by a vicious punch from the director. Picking himself up, he yelled, "What the hell was that for?" The director ranted, "That's for the bombing of Pearl Harbor; my dad perished in that bombing!" "I am not Japanese, you idiot! I am Chinese!" "Yeah, yeah,yeah...Japanese, Burmese, Chinese, you are all the same", retorted Spielberg.
Regaining his composure, the Chinese took his seat and ordered a double from the bartender. A few seconds later, the Chinese turned around and delivered a mighty punch to the director, sending him flat to the floor.
"What was that for?" exclaimed the director. "That's for sinking the Titanic! I had ancestors on that ship!" the Chinese replied. "You ignorant man! The Titanic was sunk by an iceberg!" shouted the director. "Yeah, yeah, yeah...Iceberg, Carlsberg, Spielberg, you are all the same!"

"The neologism to Morganize became synonymous with ruthless business practices by aggrandizing robber barons out to corner whole industries for the sole purpose of maximizing their fortunes.
J Pierpont Morgan's railroads and steel mergers [such as the Pennsylvania Railroad and US Steel] may have fit that stereotype. His less sanguine venture into ocean shipping was viewed in the same light by contemporary critics. "
BTW many people think that J.P Morgan is a jew due to the consonance of his name similar to MorganE which is indeed Jewish name. But not only he is not a jew but he was a high rank official in the US catholic church hierarchy according to John Kenneth Galbraith in one of his book "Money, whence it came, where it went" when describing JP Morgan's role during the 1929 crisis.
On a historical TV channel it was said that JP Morgan was normally supposed to take also the trip on the Titanic but that he complained to be ill. Bad tongues say that it was something like a plot since the sunking of the Titanic served his interest as he touched an insurance for the financial catatastrophic loss of the Titanic (as for the human lifes that perish this was not included in the insurance I suppose).

Why claiming to be a Christian is not the same than acting like a Christian
07.13.04 (12:23 am) [edit]
Because History can learn to us that Adolph Hitler didn't act as a Christian although he fainted to be a Christian. It is unfortunate that scholar books "forget" to remind this because when people don't remember they just repeat the same errors again and again.
Adolf Hitler, in his speech on 12 April 1922:
"My feelings as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter. It points me to the man who once in loneliness, surrounded only by a few followers, recognized these Jews for what they were and summoned men to fight against them and who, God's truth! was greatest not as a sufferer but as a fighter. In boundless love as a Christian and as a man I read through the passage which tells us how the Lord at last rose in His might and seized the scourge to drive out of the Temple the brood of vipers and adders. How terrific was His fight for the world against the Jewish poison. To-day, after two thousand years, with deepest emotion I recognize more profoundly than ever before in the fact that it was for this that He had to shed His blood upon the Cross. As a Christian I have no duty to allow myself to be cheated, but I have the duty to be a fighter for truth and justice.... And if there is anything which could demonstrate that we are acting rightly it is the distress that daily grows. For as a Christian I have also a duty to my own people.... When I go out in the morning and see these men standing in their queues and look into their pinched faces, then I believe I would be no Christian, but a very devil if I felt no pity for them, if I did not, as did our Lord two thousand years ago, turn against those by whom to-day this poor people is plundered and exploited.
[Note, "brood of vipers" appears in Matt. 3:7 & 12:34. John 2:15 depicts Jesus driving out the money changers (adders) from the temple. The word "adders" also appears in Psalms 140:3]
------------------------- ------------------------- ------------------------- -----
"National Socialism has always affirmed that it is determined to take the Christian Churches under the protection of the State.... The decisive factor which can justify the existence alike of Church and State is the maintenance of men's spiritual and bodily health, for it that health were destroyed it would mean the end of the State and also the end of the Church.... It is my sincere hope that thereby for Germany, too, through free agreement there has been produced a final clarification of spheres in the functions of the State and of one Church. -Adolf Hitler, on a wireless on 22 July, the evening before the Evangelical Church Election
------------------------- ------------------------- ------------------------- -----
The fact that the Vatican is concluding a treaty with the new Germany means the acknowledgement of the National Socialist state by the Catholic Church. This treaty shows the whole world clearly and unequivocally that the assertion that National Socialism [Nazism] is hostile to religion is a lie. -Adolf Hitler, 22 July 1933, writing to the Nazi Party (quoted from John Cornwell's "Hitler's Pope"
------------------------- ------------------------- ------------------------- -----
We were convinced that the people needs and requires this faith. We have therefore undertaken the fight against the atheistic movement, and that not merely with a few theoretical declarations: we have stamped it out. -Adolf Hitler, in a speech in Berlin on 24 Oct. 1933
It will at any rate be my supreme task to see to it that in the newly awakened NSDAP, the adherents of both Confessions can live peacefully together side by side in order that they may take their stand in the common fight against the power which is the mortal foe of any true Christianity. -Adolf Hitler, in an article headed "A New Beginning," 26 Feb. 1925
------------------------- ------------------------- ------------------------- -----
Except the Lord built the house they labour in vain.... The truth of that text was proved if one looks at the house of which the foundations were laid in 1918 and which since then has been in building.... The world will not help, the people must help itself. Its own strength is the source of life. That strength the Almighty has given us to use; that in it and through it we may wage the battle of our life.... The others in the past years have not had the blessing of the Almighty-- of Him Who in the last resort, whatever man may do, holds in His hands the final decision. Lord God, let us never hesitate or play the coward, let us never forget the duty which we have taken upon us.... We are all proud that through God's powerful aid we have become once more true Germans. -Adolf Hitler, in a speech in March 1933
[Note, "Except the Lord built the house, they labour in vain" comes from Psalms 127:1 ]
------------------------- ------------------------- ------------------------- -----
The Government, being resolved to undertake the political and moral purification of our public life, are creating and securing the conditions necessary for a really profound revival of religious life.... The National Government regard the two Christian Confessions as the weightiest factors for the maintenance of our nationality. They will respect the agreements concluded between them and the federal States. Their rights are not to be infringed.... It will be the Government's care to maintain honest co-operation between Church and State; the struggle against materialistic views and for a real national community is just as much in the interest of the German nation as in that of the welfare of our Christian faith. The Government of the Reich, who regard Christianity as the unshakable foundation of the morals and moral code of the nation, attach the greatest value to friendly relations with the Holy See and are endeavouring to develop them. -Adolf Hitler, in his speech to the Reichstag on 23 March 1933
------------------------- ------------------------- ------------------------- -----
We want honestly to earn the resurrection of our people through our industry, our perseverance, our will. We ask not of the Almighty 'Lord, make us free'!-- we want to be active, to work, to agree together as brothers, to strive in rivalry with one another to bring about the hour when we can come before Him and when we may ask of Him: 'Lord, Thou seest that we have transformed ourselves, the German people is not longer the people of dishonour, of shame, of war within itself, of faintheartedness and little faith: no, Lord, the German people has become strong again in spirit, strong in will, strong in endurance, strong to bear all sacrifices.' 'Lord, we will not let Thee go: bless now our fight for our freedom; the fight we wage for our German people and Fatherland.' -Adolf Hitler, giving prayer in a speech on May Day 1933
------------------------- ------------------------- ------------------------- -----
This is for us a ground for satisfaction, since we desire that the fight in the religious camps should come to an end... all political action in the parties will be forbidden to priests for all time, happy because we know what is wanted by millions who long to see in the priest only the comforter of their souls and not the representative of their political convictions. -Adolf Hitler, in a speech to the men of the SA. at Dormund, 9 July 1933 on the day after the signing of the Concordat."
------------------------- ------------------------- ------------------------- -----
I believe that Providence would never have allowed us to see the victory of the Movement if it had the intention after all to destroy us at the end. -Adolf Hitler, in a speech to old members of the Party at Munich on 8 Nov. 1933
------------------------- ------------------------- ------------------------- -----
The German Church and the People are practically the same body. Therefore there could be no issue between Church and State. The Church, as such, has nothing to do with political affairs. On the other hand, the State has nothing to do with the faith or inner organization of the Church. The election of November 12th would be an expression of church constituency, but not as a Church. -Adolf Hitler, answering C. F. Macfarland about Church & State (in his book, The New Church and the New Germany)
------------------------- ------------------------- ------------------------- -----
While we destroyed the Centre Party, we have not only brought thousands of priests back into the Church, but to millions of respectable people we have restored their faith in their religion and in their priests. The union of the Evangelical Church in a single Church for the whole Reich, the Concordat with the Catholic Church, these are but milestones on the road which leads to the establishment of a useful relation and a useful co operation between the Reich and the two Confessions. -Adolf Hitler, in his New Year Message on 1 Jan. 1934
------------------------- ------------------------- ------------------------- -----
Imbued with the desire to secure for the German people the great religious, moral, and cultural values rooted in the two Christian Confessions, we have abolished the political organizations but strengthened the religious institutions. -Adolf Hitler, speaking in the Reichstag on 30 Jan. 1934
------------------------- ------------------------- ------------------------- -----
It would have been more to the point, more honest and more Christian, in past decades not to support those who intentionally destroyed healthy life than to rebel against those who have no other wish than to avoid disease. Moreover, a policy of laissez faire in this sphere is not only cruelty to the individual guiltless victims but also to the nation as a whole.... If the Churches were to declare themselves ready to take over the treatment and care of those suffering from hereditary diseases, we should be quite ready to refrain from sterilizing them. -Adolf Hitler, in his speech on 30 Jan. 1934
------------------------- ------------------------- ------------------------- -----
We have experienced a miracle, something unique, something the like of which there has hardly been in the history of the world. God first allowed our people to be victorious for four and a half years, then He abased us, laid upon us a period of shamelessness, but now after a struggle of fourteen years he has permitted us to bring that period to a close. It is a miracle which has been wrought upon the German people.... It shows us that the Almighty has not deserted our people, that He received it into favour at the moment when it rediscovered itself. And that our people shall never again lose itself, that must be our vow so long as we shall live and so long as the Lord gives us the strength to carry on the fight. -Adolf Hitler, in a speech to the "Old Guard" of the Party at Munich on 19 March, 1934
------------------------- ------------------------- ------------------------- -----
The National Socialist State professes its allegiance to positive Christianity. It will be its honest endeavour to protect both the great Christian Confessions in their rights, to secure them from interference with their doctrines (Lehren ), and in their duties to constitute a harmony with the views and the exigencies of the State of to-day. -Adolf Hitler, on 26 June 1934, to Catholic bishops to assure them that he would take action against the new pagan propaganda
------------------------- ------------------------- ------------------------- -----
No, it is not we that have deserted Christianity, it is those who came before us who deserted Christianity. We have only carried through a clear division between politics which have to do with terrestrial things, and religion, which must concern itself with the celestial sphere. There has been no interference with the doctrine (Lehre ) of the Confessions or with their religious freedom (Bekenntnisfreiheit ), nor will there be any such interference. On the contrary the State protects religion, though always on the one condition that religion will not be used as a cover for political ends.... National Socialism neither opposes the Church nor is it anti-religious, but on the contrary it stands on the ground of a real Christianity.... For their interests cannot fail to coincide with ours alike in our fight against the symptoms of degeneracy in the world of to-day, in our fight against a Bolshevist culture, against atheistic movement, against criminality, and in our struggle for a consciousness of a community in our national life... These are not anti-Christian, these are Christian principles! And I believe that if we should fail to follow these principles then we should to be able to point to our successes, for the result of our political battle is surely not unblest by God. -Adolf Hitler, in his speech at Koblenz, to the Germans of the Saar, 26 Aug. 1934 "

"The Domination" is a novel from author Stirling
Click on the link for entire original article
"Citizens enjoy a considerable measure of freedom. As the Draka Karl von Shrakenberg explains it to an American journalist "the Domination is not a totalitarian dictatorship of the Nazi type…oligarchical collectivism is probably the best term. The citizen body as a whole is our idol, not the State or its officers; they merely execute and co-ordinate. And citizens all have the same fundamental interests, which means that criticism – tactical criticism - can safely be allowed. Which makes for greater efficiency". In fact, as Stirling puts it in the numerous and rather interesting Appendices in which he describes those details of Draka society, technology and history that cannot easily be worked into the narrative: "For the Citizen population, the Domination is a rather mild authoritarianism. There is an elected government, and a fair degree of freedom of speech and association. However, fundamental criticism (e.g. of serfdom) is not permitted, and the power of the Security Directorate has tended to gradually increase. Since there is a large degree of uniformity of opinion among the citizen population, that is not felt as much of a hardship." Citizen opinion is reflected in (free and fair!) election results, which give the pro-status quo Draka League a consistent 70%, with groups like the pro-free-market Liberals and the socially-liberal Rationalists the sort of miserable single-figure percentages with which any readers who have been involved in political efforts to offer western electorates any similar radical alternatives to the social status quo will be only too familiar! The Assembly thus elected itself elects the Head of State, the Archon, for a 20-year-term by a two-thirds majority. The Archon appoints the heads of the Government Directorates – Security, War, Technical (technology & science), Conservation, Eugenics, Transportation etc. but all are answerable to the elected Assembly. Provided they do not – as few do – question the fundamental ideological basis of their society, Draka Citizens perceive themselves as politically free. As they are: exactly as free, no more and no less, with exactly the same constraints on what they may do with our freedom, as we British and American citizens are today. If anything, Draka Citizens prize their freedom more than do ours. Individuality of thought and action is valued, even in the military, Draka "were disciplined enough, but lacked the sort of meekness that obeyed bureaucratic dictates without question". Unlike many of our Britons and Americans, alas."
About the economy
"The economy is decidedly non-Capitalist. Large scale industry is owned, mostly jointly, by the State, the free-employee Guilds, and the Landholders’ League. The latter is a co-operative of large plantation holders (not, strictly, landowners, as land is held from the State in heritable usufruct, revocable on neglect or misuse). There is also a thriving small business sector, mostly in arts, crafts, skills and handmade luxury goods. Almost all Citizens own at least a few serfs as domestic servants. The plantation holders, whose lifestyle is reminiscent of a mixture of the antebellum South and Classical Rome, may own hundreds of serfs, mostly field hands but also house servants, stewards etc. Most serfs, however, live in barrack-like compounds of up to 10,000, working in factories, mines etc. Conditions are somewhat boarding-school-like but food and medical treatment is adequate – a great improvement on conditions for most in our Third World, and they are also protected from being the victims of wars, famines etc. Even crime is very rare, because punished with condign forcefulness.
The Draka enforce total submission and obedience with the utter ruthlessness necessary when you are outnumbered many to one by your slaves. Submission and obedience which may extend to Citizens availing themselves of suitably attractive serfs’ bodies (though Race Purity Laws ban female Citizens from such use of male serfs, until 100% effective contraception enables their relaxation) But given that, their ethos requires that serfs be decently treated and looked after. The implicit bargain is "Obedience and submission: protection and guidance". As one Citizen character puts it, "they have to obey, and be punished if they don’t. Beyond that, no harm in kindness". Serfs being gratuitously neglected or ill-treated by their owners are liable to confiscation and resale by the State, and a Citizen who neglects or gratuitously ill-treats his serfs is held in low esteem by his fellows, much as a 19th century English squire who similarly ill-used his horses or hounds would have been. Many Draka value their favourite serfs with genuine affection as dog-lovers value their dogs or equestrians their bloodstock. Serfs are, in any case, valuable property not to be ruined or wasted. Eventually, the aim is to dispense with the need for coercion altogether "obedience is not enough: in the long run, the objective is domestication".
The Draka Citizens, moreover, do not merely declare themselves to be the Master Race. They try their hardest to actually be it; morally – they are imbued with an ethic of honour (upheld if need be by recourse to duelling), duty, courage, ferocious to their enemies but treating their friends with decency and kindliness, the qualities of what Nietzsche called a Herrenmoral and physically - from the age of five, Citizen children spend two-thirds of their year in single-sex boarding schools, in which physical fitness is almost a religion.
Science, culture and the arts are not neglected. Military service in the Citizen Force is universal for both sexes (who have achieved social equality in a natural and PC-free way – here Stirling begs to differ from Nietzsche’s somewhat misogynistic view!), and any Citizen who is later found to be below the required standard of fitness for his or her age is liable to a six-month recall to the Colours. Those Citizens retarded or otherwise inherently defective are "put in a comfortable institution, sterilized and encouraged in life-shortening vices". The Domination in some respects consciously models itself on Sparta, although it values creativity more. As a society at war with the rest of humanity – "there aren’t many of us and nobody loves us" is a common Draka saying – and one that knows that it cannot stably share a planet with an equally inherently global-hegemonist Americanism, the art of war necessarily holds a central place in Draka society. In any case, the virtues it inculcates are valued by the Draka, who would agree with Nietzsche in The Joyous Science "We rejoice in everything, which, like ourselves, loves danger, war and adventure – which does not make compromises, nor let itself be captured, conciliated or faced".
They also rejoice in beauty and the natural world around them. Their capital, Archona (on the site of our Pretoria) is typical of Draka cities: "marble and tile public buildings and low-rise office blocks, parks and broad avenues, the University campus and pleasant, leafy suburbs with the gardens for which the city was famed….In the centre of Archona, where the Avenue of Triumph met the Way of the Armies, there was a square with a victory monument. A hundred summers had turned the bronze green and faded the marble plinth; about it were gardens of unearthly loveliness where children played between the flowerbeds. The statue showed a group of Draka soldiers on horseback; their weapons were the Ferguson rifle-muskets and double-barrelled dragoon pistols of the eighteenth century. Their leader stood dismounted, reins in one hand, bush-knife in the other. A black warrior knelt before him, and the Draka’s boot rested on the man’s neck ". Such politically incorrect monuments aside, Draka cities are spacious and green, their buildings designed for beauty as well as function. Beauty their society values as an end in itself. As an Arch-Strategos (Field Marshal) observes in congratulating one of his junior officers for winning the Archon’s Prize for a book of poems: "The Glory of the Race is accomplishment, and beauty is as much so as power".
Another accomplishment of the Race is avoiding wrecking the planet. The Draka are keen conservationists, even if, as a critic among their American enemies sneers, it is "an aristocrat’s conservationism". Vast areas – over 15% of Draka territrory initially, later much more - are set aside as nature reserves, cleared of human populations, unless, as with the pygmies of the Ituri forest, they and their unspoilt way of life are to be conserved too. Third World populations are brought under control as we have signally failed to do. The Draka restore wolves and leopards to the Europe they have conquered. Partly to hunt themselves, partly to deter potential runaway serfs. But also because they are wild and beautiful and the Draka value both.
Both the beauty and the conservation are, Stirling implicitly and provocatively suggests, only made possible by the neo-Nietzschean stratification of society. An endless supply of cheap serf labour makes building beautiful buildings, from the cities to the mansion houses of the rural Draka Plantations, economical as they are not in consumerist society. Thus indeed were built Versailles and the Parthenon. The Citizens are endowed by serf labour and domestic servants with the leisure to create art, literature and culture which the creative elements in our society often lack in the daily scrabble to make a living. The serfs themselves are not materially deprived, but nor are they encouraged to consume endless gadgetry and resources the world cannot afford to provide for so many. Nor do they rot their minds with TV etc. Instead, they put their leisure time to healthier use, producing a healthy folk culture, music, song, customs etc instead of consuming mind-rotting Hollywood trash.
A society dominated by landed and cultured aristocrats, rather than ruled by the imperatives of corporate greed, is able to value beauty and nature above profit. In any case, cheap serf labour makes profit pull in less harmful directions. For example, economic as well as social imperatives will lead to fields being tilled by hand, since hands are cheaper as well as environmentally kinder than machines. Also, hereditary landholders in a stable society can afford to and will think ahead to conserve the land and its life over the long term for their descendants, rather than chemically raping it in quest of a fast buck a la our modern agribusiness. A Draka saying: "Live as if you were going to die tomorrow: farm as if you were going to live forever".

"Fascism should more appropriately be called Corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power." -- Benito Mussolini - Fascist (quoted by Encyclopedia Italiana, Giovanni Gentile, editor).
Now you can better understand why both Milton Friedman and Kenneth Galbraith are critics of Corporatism allied with Big Gov (see previous posts). Beware that both parties could be in fact working for one side or the other : the Right for Corporatism, the Left for Big Gov. both fainting opposition whereas they are allied because controlled by the same guys as Kenneth Galbraith warned.

I don't think that Milton Friedman has a low opinion of America: he has a low opinion of the capacity of people of detecting the real source of the problem.
Milton Friedman is at right now I can quote John Kenneth Galbraith who is at left and who thinks somehow like him see his book on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail /-/0618013245/qid=1075891 003/sr=1-18/ref=sr_1_18/1 04-7752496-9046300?v=glan ce&s=books" title="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail /-/0618013245/qid=1075891 003/sr=1-18/ref=sr_1_18/1 04-7752496-9046300?v=glan ce&s=books" target="_blank"http://www.amazon.com/exec/ob...
The Economics of Innocent Fraud by John Kenneth Galbraith (Author)
Kenneth Galbraith has been at the center of the American economy since before the First World War. In this his new book, he offers a distillation of these years in both the public and the private sectors, the academy and the government, and explains where we are and how we got there. Galbraith argues that inherent in our economic system is a continuing divergence between reality and "conventional wisdom," or as he puts it self-serving belief and contrived nonsense, or "fraud." He contends that we observe the current state of the nation in a cloud of myth, believing that stockholders and owners run our corporate world. In reality, it is the management of giant corporations that controls not only the private sector, BUT ALSO THE PUBLIC SECTOR, TOO, FROM POLITICIANS, TO THE FEDERAL RESERVE BANK, TO THE PENTAGON [emphasized by me]. In a work filled with provocative ideas that come from his years as an astute observer, Galbraith looks at today's economy and America's military actions in Iraq and sees that the gap between myth and reality has never been wider.

"You know, people have the image, have the idea, that somehow "we the people" are speaking through the government. That is nonsense."
"Abraham Lincoln talked about a government of the people, by the people, for the people. Today, we have a government of the people, by the bureaucrats, for the bureaucrats, including in the bureaucrats the elected members of Congress because that has become a bureaucracy too."

An important detail about the Constitution of 1789:the distinction between the People and the Nation
07.11.04 (1:21 am) [edit]
In previous post http://www.tblog.com/template... there was an interesting article about the history of the first "democratic" revolution in 1789. This makes me remember a detail I read in a law book about the creation of Constitution at that time. The spirit of Revolution was originally inspired by the Equality principle of Philosopher Jean Jacques Rousseau. And this principle normally says that the People are the sovereigns of the Country. But at the end the makers of the Constitution decided that "the People" would not figure as such and that they would be replaced by "the Nation", that is to say the representants of the People and that the Nation wouldn't have to request the People to make decisions. In other words the same power elite supposed to be eradicated by the revolution was given the right to come back for to be such representant you must be litterate and rich at least at that time (and even today it would be difficult to be a politician without being rich :)).
Today our representants are clearly called the bureaucrats and I suppose many would agree that they do not really act in the interest of the people. Is this democracy or only a facade rooted in the very first Constitution which was taken as model thereafter for others notably America's Constitution ? Were people betrayed since the origin without knowing it for how many did hear or realise about the importance of that subtle distinction ?

On the origin of modern Christianity destruction
07.10.04 (8:24 am) [edit]
Just found an interesting article here. It is much linked to French Revolution: =http://www.mystae.com/restric... target="_blank"
Adam Weishaupt "adopted the teachings of radical French philosophers such as Jean Jacques Rousseau (1712-1778) and the anti-Christian doctrines of the Manicheans. He was indoctrinated in Egyptian occultism in 1771 by a merchant of unknown origin named Kolmer, who was said to have traveled Europe in search of converts." - William T. Still, New World Order
"Brilliant and well trained by the Jesuits in the conspiratorial methods of access to power, young Weishaupt decided to organize a body of conspirators, determined to free the world from the Jesuitical rule of Rome and help humanity back to the pristine Christian faith of the hermetic martyrs. He is reputed to have been initiated by a German merchant named Kolmer, he had spent many years in Egypt, into a secret doctrine based on Manichaeism. Mayday of 1776, Weishaupt founded his own sect of the Very Perfectibles - better known as the Illuminati - with five original members, self-described as reformist libertarians, partisans of absolute equality." - Peter Tompkins, The Magic of Obelisks
"After their recent exposures in Bavaria, The Illuminati had been driven even further underground, taking on a variety of names, such as The French Revolutionary Club. As radicals flocked into these new varieties of Illuminism, a larger meeting hall was needed. The Hall of the Jacobins Convent was leased, and it was from this hall that they eventually derived their new name, the Jacobin Club. "The Jacobin Club met in secret and eventually boasted of having some of the best-educated and most influential men in France among its 1,300 members. The Jacobins vowed to destroy the monarchy, as well as other existing institutions, and sought to establish what they called a 'New World Order', or 'Universal Republic'."
"The famous magician and occultist, Cagliostro, was initiated into the Illuminati in 1783. Many years later, he told Catholic priests about his initiation. The initiation took place in an underground room near Frankfort, Germany." - William T. Still, New World Order
"An iron box filled with papers was opened. The introducers took from it a manuscript book [which] on the first page...read: 'We, Grand Masters of the Templars...'then followed a form of oath, traced in blood. The book stated that Illuminism was a conspiracy directed against thrones and altars, and that the first blows were to attain France, that after the fall of the French Monarchy, Rome must be attacked." "By March, 1789, the 266 lodges controlled by the [French] Grand Orient were all 'illuminized' without knowing it, for the Freemasons in general, were not told the name of the sect that brought them these mysteries, and only a very small number were really initiated into the secret....In the following month the Revolution broke out." - Cagliostro (Nesta H. Wesbster, Secret Societies and Subversive Movements)
"Cagliostro was the Agent of the Templars, and therefore wrote to the Freemasons of London that the time had come to begin the work of re-building the Temple of the Eternal. He had introduced into Masonry a new Rite called the Egyptian, and endeavored to resuscitate the mysterious worship of Isis. The three letters 'l. P. D.' on his seal, were the initials of the words 'Lilia pedibus destrue', 'tread under foot the Lilies [of France]', and a Masonic medal of the sixteenth or seventeenth century has upon it a sword cutting off the stalk of a lily, and the words 'talem dabit ultio messem', 'such harvest revenge will give'." - General Albert Pike [Grand Commander of Freemasonry], Morals and Dogma
"In the spring and summer of 1789, an artificial shortage of grain was created by Illuminist manipulations of the grain market. This produced a famine so intense that it brought the nation to the edge of revolt. One of the leading figures in this scheme was the Duc d'Orleans, the grand Master of the grand Orient lodges. The Illuminatists claimed that their revolution would be 'for the benefit of the bourgeoisie with the people as instruments...' but in reality the conspirators held up the food supplies and blocked all reforms in the National Assembly to exacerbate the situation, and the populace starved. "By July 14, the Bastille was stormed, from which a grand total of only seven prisoners were 'liberated'. Even French historians now acknowledge that the purpose of the revolutionaries was not to destroy the Bastille or liberate the prisoners, but to steal arms and gunpowder. Thus armed, on July 22, 1789, the Jacobins set into motion one of the most elaborately timed revolutionary exercises ever attempted. It would later be known as 'The great Fear'. "A panic was created simultaneously around the nation. Horsemen rode from town to town telling the citizens that 'brigands' were approaching and that everyone should take up arms. Citizens were instructed that the conspirators were being harbored in the larger estates, the chateaux, and that by edict of the King all should be torched. The people, obedient to their monarch, complied. Soon, the flames of destruction were soon burning out of control. Anarchy continued to grow as citizens began raiding and pillaging - and not only for food." - William T. Still, New World Order
With the overthrow of the monarchy in 1792, "from the 10th of August onwards, we find the tricolor replaced by the red flag of the social revolution, whilst the cry of 'Vive notre roi d'Orleans!' gives way to the masonic watchword 'Liberty, Equality, Fraternity." - Nesta H. Wesbster, Secret Societies and Subversive Movements
"Terror was rampant in the streets of Paris....In November 1793 a campaign against religion was inaugurated by a massacre of the priests all over France. In the cemeteries the cherished motto of the Illuminati, 'Death is an eternal sleep', was posted by the order of the Illuminatus 'Anaxagoras' Chaumette. In the churches of Paris, Feasts of Reason were celebrated where women of easy morals were enthroned as goddesses. These were also known as 'Exoterion', and were modeled on Weishaupt's plan to honor the god of Love." "In 1791, after returning to the United States from a three-year stint as minister to France, he [Thomas Jefferson] described the carnage as 'so beautiful a revolution' and stated that he hoped it would sweep the world. He claimed to believe that 'most Frenchmen were Jacobins. Their excesses, if one called them such, reflected that national will." "By 1793, much of France lay in ruin. Industries were decimated, libraries burned, the bourgeoisie all but wiped out. Even the great chemist Lavoisier had been guillotined on the excuse that 'the Republic has no need of chemists'."
"Toward the end of 1793, the new revolutionary Republic found itself faced with hundreds of thousands of working men for whom it could not find employment. The revolutionary leaders embarked upon a fearful new project that was to be copied by tyrants ever after, called 'depopulation'. "The idea was to reduce France's population of twenty-five million down to either eight or sixteen million, depending on which source you believe. Maximilien Robespierre believed depopulation to be 'indispensable'." - William T. Still, New World Order
"The system of the Terror was thus the answer to the problem of unemployment - unemployment brought about on a vast scale by the destruction of the luxury trades." - Nesta H. Wesbster, Secret Societies and Subversive Movements
"In France members of the revolutionary committees in charge of the extermination toiled day and night over maps, calculating just how many heads must be sacrificed in each town. Fearful Revolutionary Tribunals tried to determine who would be killed, and a never-ending stream of victims marched to a variety of deaths. In Nantes, 500 children were killed in one butchery, and 144 poor women who sewed shirts for the army were thrown into the river." "...Estimates of the final death toll at the time ran around 300,000." - William T. Still, New World Order
"I have seen half the earth desolated. Were there but an Adam & Eve left in every country, & left free, it would be better than it now is...The liberty of the whole earth was depending on the issue of the contest." - Thomas Jefferson

Science probabibly opposes Creationist theory but not obligatorily the idea of God
07.10.04 (12:08 am) [edit]
In previous post http://www.tblog.com/template... it was said that Science probably opposes the Creationist Theory. Nevertheless this theory is reductionist of the debate.
As I have just quoted Richard Feynman a Nobel Prize in Physics (see below =http://www.tblog.com/template... target="_blank"link) who reminds that the origin of constants of Universe are a damn mystery for physicists and used the term 'Hand of God' the idea of God in Science is far from being absent. Nevertheless it is not the idea of personal God like in Religions but rather the idea of a Pantheist 'God' or 'Vivid Conciousness' since Einstein said:
"MY POSITION CONCERNING GOD IS THAT OF AN AGNOSTIC. I AM CONVINCED THAT A VIVID CONSCIOUSNESS OF THE PRIMARY IMPORTANCE OF MORAL PRINCIPLES FOR THE BETTERMENT AND ENNOBLEMENT OF LIFE DOES NOT NEED THE IDEA OF A LAW-GIVER, ESPECIALLY A LAW-GIVER WHO WORKS ON THE BASIS OF REWARD AND PUNISHMENT. " [ALBERT EINSTEIN - Nobel Prize]
Some people, especially non-scientists, may think that Science opposes the idea of God since the invention of probability by Laplace but this is a misinterpretation well underlined by Physicist Stephen Hawkins:
"THERE IS A PROBABLY APOCRYPHAL STORY, THAT WHEN LAPLACE WAS ASKED BY NAPOLEON, HOW GOD FITTED INTO THIS SYSTEM, HE REPLIED, 'SIRE, I HAVE NOT NEEDED THAT HYPOTHESIS.' I DON'T THINK THAT LAPLACE WAS CLAIMING THAT GOD DIDN'T EXIST. IT IS JUST THAT HE DOESN'T INTERVENE, TO BREAK THE LAWS OF SCIENCE. THAT MUST BE THE POSITION OF EVERY SCIENTIST." [STEPHEN HAWKINS - Physicist]

[quote of the day] the ‘hand of God’
07.09.04 (11:59 pm) [edit]
“[1/137] is one of the greatest damn mysteries of physics: a magic number that comes to use with no understanding by man. You might say the ‘hand of God’ wrote that number, and ‘we don’t know how He pushed His pencil.’” Richard P. Feynman (Nobel Prize Physicist) in QED (Quantum Electronic Dynamics)

Alpha - The Fine Structure Constant The fine structure constant is a unit less physical parameter that has the approximate value of 1/137. It is the measure of the strength of the electromagnetic force. It is usually denoted by the lower case Greek letter, alpha. It was first introduced in 1916 by Arnold Sommerfeld (a teacher of Werner Heisenberg) in order to explain the fine structure of energy levels found in the hydrogen atom.

Does evolutionary theory disprove Creationist theory?
07.09.04 (4:27 am) [edit]
Answer to the first ironblogrlgn's question:
Does evolutionary theory disprove Creationist theory? I'm not specialist of Creationist theory but it seems to me that they pretend that God created life a few thousand years ago whereas evolution theory pretends that it was created by a slow process of billions of years so far it is rather incompatible :).
Now let's take apart this "detail" I suppose that the point of debate is "can life appear by random" as pretended by Evolution theory. In case you don't know classical statistical theory has shown that even the simplest virus has an incredible low probability of appearing by randomly combining amino acids (when I say low it means even the total age of universe would not suffice to create this virus let alone a more sophisticated human being :) ). There are a few other details that Science can't (yet) explain and the raellian sect is using indeed that absence of proof to pretend that life (on Earth as for Universe I don't know) has been created by extra-terrestrials. They pretend that the Bible has been falsified and that instead of translation into "God" (singular) it should have been translated into "GodS" (plural). The fact that there are still mysteries for Science doesn't legitimate the raellian theory nor the creationist theory. So even if evolutionary theory doesn't disprove Creationist theory, there is no proof of Creationist theory so it's not a theory it's pure faith until contrary proven.

[Joke] The Fisherman and the American businessman
07.09.04 (2:48 am) [edit]
The American businessman was at the pier of a small coastal Mexican village when a small boat with just one fisherman docked. Inside the small boat were several large Yellowfin tuna. The American complimented the Mexican on the quality of his fish and asked how long it took to catch them. The Mexican replied only a little while.
The American then asked why didn't he stay out longer and catch more fish? The Mexican said he had enough to support his family's immediate needs. The American then asked, but what do you do with the rest of your time?
The Mexican fisherman said, "I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, take siesta with my wife, Maria, stroll into the village each evening where I sip wine and play guitar with my amigos, I have a full and busy life, senor."
The American scoffed, "I am a Harvard MBA and could help you. You should spend more time fishing and with the proceeds buy a bigger boat, with the proceeds from the bigger boat you could buy several boats, eventually you would have a fleet of fishing boats. Instead of selling your catch to a middleman you would sell directly to the processor, eventually opening your own cannery. You would control the product, processing and distribution. You would need to leave this small coastal fishing village and move to Mexico City, then LA and eventually NYC where you will run your expanding enterprise."
The Mexican fisherman asked, "But senor, how long will this all take?"
To which the American replied, "15-20 years."
"But what then, senor?"
The American laughed and said, "That's the best part. When the time is right you would announce an IPO and sell your company stock to the public and become very rich, you would make millions."
"Millions, senor? Then what?"
The American said, "Then you would retire. Move to a small coastal fishing village where you would sleep late, fish a little, play with your kids, take siesta with your wife, stroll to the village in the evenings where you could sip wine and play your guitar with your amigos."

I have used the expression "for or against science or religion" in a thread below ("Preparation materials for the debate Science/Religion") I precise that it's for conveniency only (not sure of my english here : is it rather convenience, conveniance ? sorry I'm too lazy to lookup a dictionary would do so later :) ) although I'm scientific minded and not a religious person (I think the term is atheist) I'm not "against" Religion per se in the strong sense : you will then soon remark that I have a bad/good(?) habit to always hedge against risk of misinterpretation about what I am saying :). It is because I want to illustrate my repetitive mantra "words are only proxies for thoughts" and also because I just try to impose to myself what I would like others to apply also : tolerance.

As explained in analog Philosophy/Religion post below it's not for narcissim only that I list my own comments it's for "traceability" - to use a technical term I am used to in quality engineering field :).

For tracking my own comments or revisit sites where I put something I will list their article links here (of course if someone want to read them I don't mind :) ). Beware that I have no criteria of choice when commenting other blogs: it just happens when I see something at the time I am connected.

Preparation materials for the debate Science/Religion
07.08.04 (12:06 pm) [edit]
I'm going to add here external research materials I but also you can use to help the debate. If you have some interesting materials please add it to comment section. It can be for or against science or religion that is to say I won't be listing only materials that support my point of view but also contradictory point of other views as long as it is argumented.
The list will be growing as I find links (some I got already since many years in my bookmark or new that I will find as debate goes on). It should be categorised also.
Here it is (only one at the moment) Contextualism and the problem of the external world [my comment: it is about total skepticism]

I'm going to participate in Religion/Science debate
07.08.04 (11:26 am) [edit]
I'm not especially fond of religion but as the debate relates to the theme of my blog I have added a link on left side to IronBlogReligion who wants to launch the debate.
So hold on I promise that it will be interesting and hot although as I have explained in the spirit of a previous post (untitled "Words are only proxies for thoughts.") that I'm not interested in polemics about term definition but about the process itself of finding a proper definition of thing (here God) ... if it exists.

An other funny stuff from Richard Feynman
07.08.04 (12:47 am) [edit]
Exerpt from his book "Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman!":
"I often liked to play tricks on people when I was at MlT. One time, in mechanical drawing class, some joker picked up a French curve (a piece of plastic for drawing smooth curves - a curly, funny-looking thing) and said, "I wonder if the curves on this thing have some special formula?"
I thought for a moment and said, "Sure they do. The curves are very special curves. Lemme show ya," and I picked up my French curve and began to turn it slowly. "The French curve is made so that at the lowest point on each curve, no matter how you turn it, the tangent is horizontal."
All the guys in the class were holding their French curve up at different angles, holding their pencil up to it at the lowest point and laying it along, and discovering that, sure enough, the tangent is horizontal. They were all excited by this "discovery" even though they had already gone through a certain amount of calculus and had already "learned" that the derivative (tangent) of the minimum (lowest point) of any curve is zero (horizontal). They didn't put two and two together. They didn't even know what they "knew."
I don't know what's the matter with people: they don't learn by understanding, they learn by some other way-by rote, or something. Their knowledge is so fragile."

What Do You Care What Other People Think Mr Feynman ?
07.07.04 (11:56 pm) [edit]
An illustration of the idea that words are just proxies for thought (see previous post) comes from Feynman's book reviewed at this site
http://www.msu.edu/" title="http://www.msu.edu/" target="_blank"http://www.msu.edu/~sarbjenn/ISP213H/feynman .html
"What Do You Care What Other People Think Mr Feynman ?" (Further Adventures of a Curious Character) By Richard P. Feynman, as told to Ralph Leighton
"What Do You Care What Other People Think?" by Richard Feynman is a physics book that is quite unlike any other. It is not about physics in the way that we are all used to reading about it, but more of a guide to how to practice physics and how to look at the world. For me it changed my view of what learning really is, and also the way I see things that are all around me. Feynman teaches you that the names of things don't matter so much as what you really know about them, and that if you are curious about something, you should go ahead and investigate it - it doesn't matter if it makes you look like a fool, as long as you learn something from it. "
"Growing up, Feynman's father was very careful to guide the young boy in the right direction without actually pushing the boy where he wanted him to go. The most important thing that Melville taught young Feynman was to ask, "Why?" and to not just accept things as they were, but to find out the reasons that they were in whatever way he could. Feynman soon became notorious around his hometown for his unique way of looking at things and the crazy 'experiments' he was always conducting."
"Feynman's dad taught him about the birds, compared to how the other boys' dads taught them about the birds. His father taught him about what the bird does and how it lives, while the other boys' dads taught them just the names of the birds and nothing about the birds themselves."

[quote for the blog]
07.07.04 (11:36 pm) [edit]
I remember a quote but don't remember the author (if someone knows tell me) that I use very often and is at the origin of this blog:
"Words are only proxies for thoughts."
What does it mean ? It means just don't stop at the superficiality of word's definition but go deep into the real meaning and or process that is underlying it. It means if you don't agree with someone maybe the same word is not defined in the same manner or under the same context. If you are honest you should try to adopt his angle's point of view - and conversely or the guy is unhonest in that case there is nothing much worse to discuss with him except if you are interested by pure personal attacks.

Popular misusage of terms
07.07.04 (4:03 am) [edit]
I am amused and fascinated by popular misusage of terms because they can sometimes impact a whole culture of a nation.
First how misusage is defined ?
According to =http://dictionary.reference.c... target='_blank'AMERICAN DICTIONARY:
misusage means
1. Abusive treatment. 2. Improper application, as of words. What is funny is that "sometimes confusion about a word's proper meaning goes back many decades" according to this site
A case in point is the use of "comprise" to mean "constitute." In an interesting note on this usage, Webster's observes: "Although it has been in use since the late 18th century, [this] sense is still attacked as wrong. Why it has been singled out is unclear...." Here, Webster's seems to imply that doing something for a long time makes it legitimate, regardless of the merits of the usage. But the reason for challenging the usage in this case is obvious: The primary meaning of "comprise" since the days of Middle English has been "comprehend" (in the sense of "include"), so using the word to stand for "constitute" (that is, "be included in") makes it convey very nearly the reverse of its primary meaning. It's as if you used the same word to signify "contain" and "be contained by." The fact that people have been misusing "comprise" since the late 1700's is impressive but does nothing to extricate the word from the difficulty of meaning both one thing and its opposite.
Sometimes misusage hasn't much impact like the word above, sometimes it has when it is in the fields of politics, economics, religion and even science.
